DD, Mydaylilies is site all in itself, not associated with any other site. It's run by Cary Peterson from Utah and other people like Mick Morry (hybridizer from Canada), Becki Pavlik (sp?) and others. I belong to it but I do find it hard to navigate at times and I have a hard time finding topics I've previously read sometimes. It's a great site but it does load too slow for me at times.

I don't go to DG very much anymore, only to see if any questions have been posted I may can answer. I haven't posted any photos this year over there. I probably won't renew because I can't see paying $20 for someplace I don't go to often.

I LIKE it, no wait a minute, I LOVE it here!!!!!!

I'm glad you mentioned that it's hard to navigate & find certain topics. I feel that way, too, but didn't want to sound negative.

I have a link for ATP on our clubs website that I'm in the process of making so that will be one more place for people to find us here once it's finished.

When I "found" ATP (I think someone "whispered" about it on DG) I checked it out, loved what I saw, and when my DG subcription was up for renewal, I too allowed mine to lapse. Not that $20 was that expensive. I will admit, it was VERY hard to leave DG, and I posted a farewell message. Many of my DG friends have come over here, but sadly, a few have not.

On the other hand, I LOVE all my old and new friends here, and I love this site. It is so bright, cheerful, easy to navigate and upload photos on, and the plant forum is the best!

Thanks Dave, Trish, moderators, and everyone else that help give this site it's awesomeness! ~Jan

I left DG a couple of years ago when I became distressed over the fact that they did not want hybridizers or growers to talk about or show pictures of their seedlings and introductions, which is something I was specifically interested in. And I guess what upset me the most was when they told Fred (Spunky1) he could no longer hold his daylily introduction naming contests and called a halt to the one we were currently involved in. Someone D-mailed me and told me about Cubits, and I immediately moved over there and never looked back -- loved it there and just let my DG subscription lapse without ever going back again; and then when Dave and Trish started ATP I just drifted right over here -- and I love it here even more! A couple of the Cubits I participated in (Daylilies and Roses) totally moved over here, but the Irises Cubit and Lyle's Daylilies In The Desert Cubit are still over in Cubits and I occasionally touch bases with them. But I wouldn't even consider rejoining DG! This place has everything I want, and the database here is incredible!

Keep up the terrific work, guys! We love it so much here!

I feel the exact same way about this site, and DG, as above stated by Betty & Jan. Someone whispered in my ear, too, and I've been a fan of this site ever since! I do miss a couple of people who were on DG, but not the site itself, because of the way I think it is being run now. It's way more fun here anyway! I noticed that people were starting to talk in code over at DG on a couple of the forums because they were afraid of getting kicked off. That is when I knew I wouldn't go back. I didn't think anyone was saying anything bad that they should be worried about. I've found the users on both sites to be very helpful, but this one is just more fun! And, it's super easy to use! I also really love the silly faces that we can post!
Thumbs up Hilarious! Blinking nodding Green Grin!

Thanks so much for this fantastic site! I'm totally addicted to it! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I have confidence that Dave will come up with an even better way than the DG watchdog. He has done wonders so far. Things here are simple and easy to navigate. So I have every reason to think a garden supply, plant nursery etc. review area will work even better than GWdog.

for someone new to daylilies, and very weary of the DG disorganization and 'glass window' to non-paying gardeners, ATP is such a delightful oasis. i nearly live in the database here, learning about my new passion (thanks! i Lovey dubby the db!), was welcomed with such warmth and generosity, and already feel a great depth of gratitude for this amazing place. this is how the web was intended to be, and it is surprising and refreshing to find a community that creates such a good balance Group hug

Im still on DG because I cant leave my quilting friends, if nothing else.

I agree with Betty about the hybridyzer 'thing', and that still burns my tookus. I go to the daylily site when I get on and it reminds me of the site before such a good forum got going about 7 years ago. Too bad the powers that be will never let it flourish. Well....not to bad for Dave Smiling

Hybridizers and sellers can post images and sale announcements, but we really would like them to be regular forum members, and post regularly. I don't want this forum to become a place to **only** come when you have something that you introduced, or to sell. I think that is only fair.

I agree
We certainly want our members, who happen to be hybridizes/sellers, to feel welcome. After all, we all want to know about the latest and greatest too! Green Grin!
No forum wants to see "spam" from someone who only wants to sell you something.

I think our forums have a wonderful and healthy balance. We all win!

Juli, I wasn't on DG when people were getting kicked off for that, but it's a really good point you make. If people are just posting photos of their new introductions, and not interacting at all, then it just turns into a "ad", and that would be sad.

I still haven't explored everything on this site, so I'm not sure what all is available, but I did like the section on DG where you could post plants for sale. If people were trying to sell their items in the regular forum, I can see nudging them to the "for sale" area, but just using the forums as a place to advertise would be bad!

Natalie, I think the plants list is good for that - have you played with it yet? (It's fairly new) If you know what you're looking for, you find it in the database, click the link that says "x members have this plant" and it will tell you if any who have it are willing to sell/trade it.

Dave, it never occurred to me to tell you when I put the ATP link on our Daylily Society's new website. Just like it never occurred to me to NOT put it on there. Hilarious! Will t-mail you

Thanks Mary! That's a great idea, and I haven't yet clicked on any of those, though I've seen them. It doesn't help that I have NO room, but I've seen a lot of amazing daylilies on this forum, so I have checked out the stats on them in the database. Several times I've seen where someone has them, but didn't even think to click on that for a possible purchase.

If it's daylilies you're after, join your local daylily society. They're a GREAT source of new plants (not that I'd know that from personal experience Whistling ) Hilarious! Hilarious! I think I've only added four dozen this year, so far.
