When this was given to me I was told it was a Chinese Dwarf Banana (or dwarf chinese banana) and that it was NOT edible. So far no blooms or fruit only LOTS of babies filling up the pot. So my question....IF it ever makes fruit are they really not edible..ie:toxic...or they just taste really awful ??? Don't think I need to worry about it anytime soon...mostly just curious.

Most of the time when they say a banana is not edible either the fruit is too small or the seeds are hard and numerous. It took hybridizing to get the banana seeds to be so negligible that we can eat them. I've never heard of one that is poisonous (but I'm not an expert).

I have this one. It doesn't produce fruit that I'm aware of. In the fall, it blooms with a large showy yellow flower that lasts along time. It has a lot of pups!
