I just picked up my first two roses of the season (other than what's ordered). I picked up a RedGold & a Seashell from Paramount, which I think is a Certified Rose subname?

Anyways, yay for bodybag roses! If they live, wonderful. If they croak, I'm not out a lot. Smiling :) Smiling

OK, more. Yay! I picked up a climbing New Year (love that pure orange!) and an Angel Face.

Zuzu - I looked and looked (and picked up quite a few thorns in my finners.. I gotta dig 'em out now) for your list:

Cajun Spice
Camara
Colossus
Dawning Moment
Double Perfection
Expressions
Field of Dreams
Good Golly
Grimaldi
Moonlight Magic
Tyler
cl Maid of Honor
Little Gigi
Tickles

and found only Expressions. They had it in the big 1gal pot for $9 (or the 1.5 grade for $4, I think). Which did you want me to pick up for you?

Also, if anyone has a request for me to look for, I'd be happy to try & find it! They had lots of Dolly Parton, Mr. Lincoln, Double Delight, Pink Promise, New Year, Intrigue, Don Juan, cl Picante, Picante, Angel Face, JFK, cl Yellow Blaze.. ugh, about another 20 more and that's all I can think of right now. Oklahoma, Olympiad, Red Masterpiece, Chicago Peace, Peace, damn, can't think now.

Toni, that's great news. I would love to have Expressions. The bagged one would be easier for you to ship, but I'd love to have the potted one if you're able to send me that one.

Zu, wasn't someone on the other site (DG) looking for Dolly Parton a while back? I seem to recall that someone was trying really hard to find it and couldn't, but I may be (and probably am) confused.

Toni, were all these at Wallyworld? I got my best ones last year at HD.

Angie - No, this was a mixture of Walmart, Home Depot (not so much) and Lowes. Lowes has the Certified Roses and I had wonderful luck with most that I got from them last year (except for the two Moonlight Magics that froze out).

Zuzu - I'll see how heavy & how much the 1gal pot is before I go buy it so you can see what the shipping would be. C-mail me or email me (you have my email) your zip so I can get a good estimate for ya. :)

I don't remember anyone looking for Dolly Parton, Angie, but it's possible.

My local Walmart is not selling Certified Roses this year. The selection there seemed to be confined to the most common non-patented varieties. Lowe's and Home Depot had already finished selling their roses by the time I got there in February. Both will be selling container roses later in the year, but they start selling bare-root roses around Christmas and sell out by the beginning of February.

In the meantime, I'm still on the hunt for the other roses on the list. I recently ordered Colossus from Eurodesert, so that's taken care of, and I ordered Little Gigi a couple of years ago from Hortico, but the rose they sent me is a golden-yellow floribunda. As you can see in this link, Little Gigi is anything but.

Yay for Hortico! *sarcasm* I just looked at the pics for Little Gigi and a yellow rose marked as such? Almost as bad as the RedGold I got last year off eBay.. was tagged RedGold & everything, blossomed white. Confused Confused Confused

Go figure. Big Grin

Dashed by HD and Walmart this afternoon on my way home from work and bought these roses:

Mr. Lincoln (I bought this one last year and murdered it)
Reines de Violettes (ditto above)
Peace
Angel Face (y'all tempted me!)
Double Delight

The ML, Peace and DD are roses my MIL had in her garden, so I'm placing them here to honor her. Actually, we gave her the DD one year for Mother's Day. She loved roses. She also had Queen Elizabeth and a yellow one that no one in the family seems able to remember the name of. She was gardening in the 60s, 70s and 80s if anyone has a clue what might have been a popular yellow rose then. It was probably a floribunda.

It might have been Gold Glow. That one was very popular through all of those decades.

Toni: HD had the Reines de Violettes. I didn't see it at Walmart, but they had the others and for only $5. I paid $4.87 for the RdV and $5.98 for the other roses. HD also had Iceberg and Walmart had Gold Glow that Zu just mentioned above. Hmmmm.

Last year HD had a better selection. I got Comte de Chambord, ML, RdV and Rose de Rescht. Don't remember the prices, but they were cheap.

Angie - Danke.. I didn't go through the HD roses as well as the Wallyworld / Lowes ones.. mainly because they always stick them in a tall shelf and I hate getting stabbed half a billion times trying to see what roses are in the back! I thought about getting a Gold Glow.. nice? Scent?

Don't know, Toni. I don't have that one. HD also had Don Juan and Cl. DJ, another one I don't have and I know Zu has it. I like the yellow roses, but I like any rose that has good perfume. Don't think I want a green rose, though.

Not very big. Mine's about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Yours might be even smaller because it'll be an own-root rose. Mine's grafted onto multiflora. I got it from Hortico back in the old days when they actually sent out good roses.
