I sprayed the roses today for the first time this year. Mostly, they are leafed out, although not all of them totally are. No matter, I wanted to get an early start as last fall, I just quit spraying and the weather stayed mild. So they came down with blackspot. Not that unusual, it happens when the weather stays mild all thru November or later because I usually quit spraying by October. Early October or late October, depends on how ambitious I am each year. I know last year my hose end sprayer was broken when I thought I would do the last spraying of the year. So I tossed it and it was early October for the last spraying.

So this year I have a new hose end sprayer and am planning to do the spraying the same way as last year. With the no mix hose end sprayers. I have to drag the hose all around but its really not such a bad chore and I am done in an hour. Used to take at least two hours the old way with the little sprayer and it was hard work. I guess I really need a good sprayer but I have never gotten one.

Are the "no mix hose end sprayers" the miracle grow ones? I have 2 of those. I use a heavy old metal sprayer. I think I get a more accurate level with that. I use the other ones for fertilizer and Epsom salts.

I'll have to look for sprayers next time I am in the store. I have been reusing my miracle one with generic miracle grow. Seems to work ok for that. I wouldn't trust it to evenly dispense a chemical spray.
