Well, these are my first plumeria... got them from Mike: Heidi Gold, Thai Orange, Miami Rose, and another one I can't remember the name.

After a not so fabulous day at work, I needed to do a little gardening. In fact, what I really was in the mood for was for a little clearing...

Some of my plants have not been doing very well. Sometimes nature wins, it's one of the things you have to live with living in S. Florida weather, especially so close to the Everglades. Rolling my eyes.

So I cut down my pigeon pea and my banana plant. It had to be done. Mold and little pests had move in. Crying

This is my little pile...

Now I won't have to worry so much about 'm going to place my growing collection of adeniums and plumeria. Hurray!

I do hope my plumeria are happy in containers long term. It's pretty much rock everywhere in my tiny backyard, so I'm a container gardener. I'm planning to move a couple of plumerias to the front of our home once they are established, but that patch in the front is the extent of reasonably good soil that I have, so containers will have to do. *Blush*

What kind of rock do you have? For that matter, where in Florida are you 'close to the Everglades'?

I have no idea what kind of rock I have. It seems impenetrable, though. Hilarious!

You probably have that lovely coral rock. Actually, if you can get someone with an auger or other tool to make some holes for you, plumeria will love it... the entire city of Homestead is on coral rock and it is the biggest nursery area in the state. But yes, a pain... On the west coast we have sand; way easier...

Robert, if you got the Hula Girl from Matt (which I suspect) - he will replace it.

I agree on the front yard being planted with common stuff.

Hetty, I'm not sure if it's coral, it might be... my husband thinks it's limestone. At any rate, aside from the sparse grass on top, there's not much soil.

Yes, sand would be much easier. I remember back in my native PR, my grandmother could grow anything in her sandy soil; she lived by the beach. She had an amazing green thumb, and was very familiar with herbs for medicinal purposes. I didn't inherit much of her talent, unfortunately. It's been more of a learning experience for me, than a natural talent. Sticking tongue out

And Mike, I wouldn't mind 'sharing' cuttings with neighbors as long as they don't mess up the little tree. Hilarious!

At any rate, they'll be in my backyard for a good while before transplant to the front.
