Sharon, I'm so sorry you're in a drought. They are so scary. Our water table was down 54" in our drought and big cracks in the ground. It's like your eyes don't want to believe what they see Sad

Fortunately, you have this beautiful and colorful website to come to everyday and get your color fix Lovey dubby

I'm praying you get rain, no matter what the weather people say.

Ahhhh Vic. These kinds of things only serve to make us stronger, right? Well I should be tough as nails when this hot dry weather passes!

Thanks for the prayers. Maybe it's best not to pray for rain, but to pray that I don't turn into a mean grouchy old woman in the meantime. Ya think? Sad

Sharon, it is very sad to see what the drought has done to your gardens, I hope your plants can tough it out until the rains arrive. In the meantime you have your grandsons sunflower blooming to help you smile at least a little. Group hug Group hug Group hug

And today it's blooming!
There is a green wedge of grass in the lot beside me. It's the result of an underground spring, so I guess the spring is not dry as long as that piece of grass is green. There's always hope!!
Thanks Margaret.

And the best part is I can see it from my computer desk.
Of course I can also see all the dead brown stuff around it, but even so, there's that beautiful yellow bloom!!!

And if you notice the trees are still green, except for the cottonwood which is to the right of the picture. You can see a bit of it in the upper right if you enlarge the image. It's shedding rapidly and turning yellow. But the rest of them are still green.
There's hope!!

It's kind of neat how the underground springs show up at times like this. There's another one on the other side of my house too, and the grass is really green in that one strip all the way down to the street. I'm lucky to live at the bottom of a little tiny hill, because those springs flow downward toward me. If there were one in the center of my back yard, I might be a little happier. Smiling

The sunflower is beautiful and so nice that you can see it from your window. Smiling

The trees are looking pretty good so far, I hope they all survive.

Love your coleus. Lovey dubby I think they are even more beautiful than many so called foliage plants for shade.

They would make me smile too. You have beautiful grounds, you obviously put a lot of time and effort into them. Sorry for the drought.

We finally have a bit of cooler weather. Maybe even some rain this afternoon. First day in eons since we had below 90+ degrees.

YEA Hurray!

Thanks,

It was cool enough to get out and move things around on the patio, pot a few more, and clean up a bit.

Hoping you get rain soon.

One lone thistle, one lone sunflower with multiple buds, some green patches of grass from underground springs, green on some trees! The coleus, the sedum, yes, in spite of the brownish background, you do have some color. I know that you live for color, and this just makes you appreciate it even more! Save the seeds from the sunflower, it's a tough one!
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

It is tough, Mary. The only seed from a packet that survived. A testimony to the power of a seed.

I've been painting today. If I can't get color one way, I'll get it another!!
