All true! Smiling

The blue bar at the very top is for your own personal stuff. A clock (yay!), your profile, a logout button (I'll never use that, though), and the mail tab.

The grey bar contains the site-wide main feature points - database, ideas, lists, etc, plus the search.

The search will work depending on where you are. i.e., if you're in the plants database, the search will only search plants. Ditto ideas, forums, blogs, or mail.

In the footer contain all the miscallaneous links that are needed for the site (about us, links, newsletter, memberlist, etc).

That's the thought process behind where something goes.

Two small nits.. I do really like the peak at the new look

But is the Welcome next to the date time redundant with the welcome below the banner?

and the second search box below the random plants? Or is that just for us old dogs that like things the way they were?

Not quite live! But I did enable it for all forum moderators (of which you are one) so that's why you're seeing the new look.

Very smart, both header and footer. I often do side by side windows on a 19" screen and both the display and functionality are better now.

Yes. This is more convenient than access it through your profile. Now that we have room for this kind of thing, I'm glad to be able to add it.
