I love it too, even though it was from last summer. He really hasn't changed much though.
Thanks Margaret.

Did I ever show you this picture, Vic? It's an old one but it's pretty fun.

The top two are Ethan and me at the same age (4, I think) and I added the one at the bottom because the one of him was taken the same weekend as the one of me. I think it was about 4 years ago.

My son is very dark haired, dark eyed, and about 6'4" tall.
He just shakes his head and says he will be seeing his mother in his son for the rest of his life.
I do hope Ethan grows a lot bigger than I did, just like his dad.

Ha Mary. You've been saying that since he was born!!
He tells me that we look alike because we are the smallest ones in the family. Soon as he grows, he says, he'll look like a man but I'll still be a girl. Then we won't look alike.
So he says.

I'm glad about the sunflower too.

Hi Vickie, you're right!

I love your butterfly house and bush, I've been meaning to tell you that Smiling

Did you get any rain this weekend? I noticed it might graze you a little bit tonight. We got a few drizzles earlier today but I never did come inside, so it wasn't enough to even mention. Still it cooled the day down so that it's really nice right now.
Sure wish the cooler temps and the little bit of drizzle would last, but the sun is shining as if the clouds were never here.

Thanks, Sharon. That butterfly bush isn't supposed to get over 2 to 3 feet tall, so I'm hoping I can leave the house right there.

We got 1/4 inch of rain last Thursday. Anything else over the weekend went a little north of us, so I hope someone got something worthwhile. Looking at the weather map right now and there is something brewing. Strangely enough, it seems that whenever the rain is heading right for us, it either fizzles out right before it gets to Elberfeld or just misses us. But I know someone, somewhere, is getting it.

Have you been getting very much rain?

Keeping my fingers crossed!

It takes me about an hour and a half to get from here to Evansville, less than 2 hours anyway, so that's how far west I am from you. We've had no measurable rain since one day in May, I think. And before that, very little.

There are no blooms left except the sunflower, pretty depressing. Some of my daylilies that had buds didn't even bloom, not even the old Kwanzos that always bloom no matter what. And if you look on the drought map at this little western end of KY, we are the little blotch of darkest reddish brown.

It does the same here, splits and goes north or south of us as it comes your way. It has been a remarkably weird summer. I guess that's true for all of us and like you, I am so glad when I hear that somebody has rain.

Fingers crossed here, too. Smiling

Well, the sun started shining about 15 minutes ago and it is dark in the south so the rain went just past us. And on and on it goes...

I looked at the drought map and we are in the dark brown too. Interesting (and disheartening) map.

I had one scape with three or four blooms on my Kwanso and they didn't look very good. H. Lingering Loveliness, a late bloomer, had two scapes and all the blooms rotted before opening, so I didn't even get to see any blooms on it this year.

I see on the map that the rain may span a wide area south and west of us. Maybe you will get some!

I thought you might be in that brown area too.

It's cloudy now, gray clouds, so maybe . . .

I'm surrounded by lakes and rivers though so sometimes storms come and just skirt around all the bodies of water. That's what has happened to us this summer. Happens in winter, too with snow.

It is what it is, though, you know? And we just must learn to make do with the hand that's dealt us.

I guess we don't have any other options, do we? Shrug!

One positive... I just took a stroll around my beds, pulled out some dried up daylily scapes, and pulled some seeds from the volunteer purple petunias to scatter in other areas. Did not see or feel one mosquito!
