If you don't have this one, you need to get it. It's a beauty. Mine is going to open in a day or two. I'll post some pictures when it does. This appears to be one of the healthiest roses I've ever grown. It's right up there with the Knockout Roses but it's prettier.

I saw this a couple of days ago at a local nursery.. felt kinda cheated as it didn't have a good scent! Sad

The leaves are so healthy on this plant. I like the way the petals are all ruffled around the tips. I wish it smelled like Don Juan, but I think this is definitely the prettiest new rose I've seen in a while.

Sue has some wonderful photos of it! Wow. I'll add my photos this week to the database if it's ok.

I just shoved my nose into a CL Don Juan this morning and wasn't rewarded with a scent. Is my nose broken? hmm.. now I'm gonna have to go to a real nursery & not the local grocery store to see what a real Don Juan smells like. It's kinda like with me & JFK.. everyone says that it has a scent, but I don't smell hardly anything.

I think I have a broken nose. Sad :( Sad

What a lovely and unusual rose. If it is tolerant of benign neglect, I need to add it to my collection.

I too think my nose is broken, that or my roses only let out their fragrance at certain intervals. I can always smell a few of them but others ...

In my own experience, scent is not always a reliable trait in roses. I speculate that fragrant roses tend to produce more delicious scent when they are lavished with good care because I tend not to do this and my own roses tend to disappoint a little in the scent department. But even while Don Juan was dying of black spot, I was able to detect a delicious spicy scent from its several flowers. Sometimes, I guess, it may just be luck.

I guess I need to pamper my roses then - not likely to happen though. As you say some carry on regardless. Chrysler Imperial smells wonderful always.

Smelly Roses I have: Memorial Day, Shockwave, Mr. Lincoln, Oklahoma, Enchanted Evening, Pure Perfume (when I get a bloom), Blue Girl, Sterling Silver, Dolly Parton, Lagerfeld, Intrigue, Heirloom, Golden Masterpiece. Those are the ones I can think of off of the top of my head that smell wonderful. But, just yesterday I was at a nursery & shoved my nose into Scentsational, and it was pretty blah. I don't get it.. I think that my nose just isn't that sensitive to rose smell. It's more in tuned to... well, things like BBQ! I can smell someone BBQ'ing like 2 miles away and I can smell one of our local BBQ restaurants over 5 miles way.

Guess I know what's good for me, huh. Rolling on the floor laughing

My easy does it is a little stick - a healthy stick with lots of new leaves - it will be a while before I see any blooms.

Here's a photo of a bloom. I ordered this plant this Spring from Regan Roses. Let's just say...their plants are AMAZING.

Here's the entire plant. This was a bare root plant and I am so impressed with the way it has grown. Despite the weather we had the past week, this plant has proven to be a winner.

How pretty. The color is similar to my carefree celebration (by Radler of knockout fame) but the bloom is much fuller. I love the frilled edge. I am glad that it survived the rain and flood. Doesn't even have any blackspot.
