Yea, let's not encourage that one to come up this way. It's a little early in the season for the predictions I'm seeing, that it could run up the Yucatan channel. They are supposed to hook it out to sea at this time of year. Our beach condo is directly across from Cozumel on the channel and it's been 7 years since we had a direct hit, too long really. I'm hoping to make it through 8 years without one.

Our last direct hit was Wilma as well, and that same year but earlier Emily hit us square on too. I don't want another year like that, the insurance guys were scratching their heads trying to figure out which one to bill. We'd just replaced all the mattresses after Emily when Wilma hit and the roof leaked and ... we got another set of new mattresses. If one does hit, I'm going for a new refrigerator this time Rolling on the floor laughing

Yes, if he stays on track we'll be just a few km on the north side of the eye and that's the "bad" side. So far it's a cat 1 and could still turn a bit and slam into Belize. I'm not wishing that on them either though, the best for us would be a smooth threading of the Yucatan channel but then he would emerge into the Gulf and get stronger. No good answers.

Interesting, that forecast picture shows him going over both of our homes, the beach condo and the house in Merida. I can do without that.

We will decide on Monday whether to go over and get the screens installed on the jungle side of the condo. If it stays a cat 1 and stays a little to the south of us, we will probably not do it. For years we didn't even have the hurricane curtains and those windows were ok. Mostly the trees have grown up on that side in the last 8 years and it would be something flying off them that could break them. Lots of rain in our future, that's a for sure fact.
