I just had to share this, Hostas Direct posted it on Facebook.

How great is this? This wildlife bridge provides a crossing for wildlife amidst the danger of highways. Like if you agree that we need more of these around the world!Thumb of 2012-08-03/virginiarose/8ace8b

I haven't found out what state this is in but when I googled it I found that america has 8 Billion road kills a year. Yikes!

Those were proposed for New York State, especially in the Adirondack and Catskills area and near NYC.
I dont know what happened to the idea, maybe not enough land in such densely populated areas.

I'll have to do a little more research, this is the first one I've ever seen and I was impressed. I read they have them in Canada also.

Susan, they're a great idea. Sooooo many whitetail deer get here around here. Two weeks ago one got hit right smack in front of our house and laid there in the 95+ deg. temps for 3 days before the county removed it. I was so glad it didn't explode; it was getting close.

Wow, that's crazy!! They are building one in Redmond, Washington and Vail Pass in Colorado. The one in Redmond cost 6.1 million dollars of taxpayer money and none of the taxpayers want it because only 11 animals have been killed there this year. But in the right place they would be invaluable. If you hit one doing 60 you could die or total your car. My brother is lucky to be alive after rolling his car five times to avoid a dear. So very glad he was OK. So maybe it is not just about animal kill, my brother totaled his car and could have died, but did not kill the deer.
