I'm testing my upload of images to the LIly Auction and I'm having problems. Of course my photos on my pc are all too big to upload to the Auction. So, I uploaded them to photobucket(which is taking forever and I have cable connection!!!). Then I resize them, which is taking forever again. Now, do I have to download them back to my pc at the new size and then upload them AGAIN to the auction???? Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling Can you tell that I'm not a patient person and WHY am I paying $80 a month for something so darned SLOW!!!!

Next question, is there a better more resonable way to do this. Please please pleaaaaaaase help. I'll owe you my next born child for this help, of course, if I have a next born child at age 59, I'll just move in with you and leave the child to dear hubby!!!

When you double click on your picture do you have a photo editor that pops up -- something standard like Microsoft Office Picture Manager? Cause you can resize pics within these editors. That way you dont have to upload to photobucket first.

Else - yes usually you will have to download back to your pc at new size and then upload to daylily auction.

Also I dont want any more kids -- but a daylily fan is nice -- LOL!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I swear, with modern technology this process is ridiculous! I'm not knocking the Auction but there has got to be a better way. At the rate I'm doing this process it will take an hour to do just one photo. YUCK!

Thanks Christine, if I don't start selling soon, I'll be sending out some of my plants to just get rid of them. I'm a little disappointed that the process for loading the pictures is so difficult. Oh well, I'll get with the program and give it a try.

All I do is right click my photo and then click edit, I resize to usually 450 top # and then the other # automatically resizes.
I don't know why you would have to load to photobucket first to edit when most computers come standard with a basic editor.

Yes it can be a pain to have to resize photos before posting on auction but their system can only allow under 99 kb (or mb or whatever it is).
Once you have the photos resized and saved you won't have to do it again. Also, once you post something to the auction when you want to relist it you just click quick list or another option and all the info and photo is still there. After 2 months you will have to reload a photo if you still have more of it to list though.

Once you get the hang of the auction it gets easier.

Yeah -- when I dow load pics from my camera, they are usually 7 meg (which is big). So if I am going to use them via a post or send them via email, I reduce them in size... that process is easy -- just a couple clicks. I also think depending on your camera, you can change the size on your camera. If you use a digital camera and save the pic as a RAW pic - these can get up to 15 meg.

Hope this helps!! Welcome!

Michelle - do you sell on the lily auction too? If so what is your name on there? Confused

She does and she's wonderful!!! "tink3472" but be careful, you will spend way tooooooo much money because she has soooooooo many wonderful plants and seeds and great prices. We have many members on here that sell on the Auction and Ebay and they may have other sourses but that's all I know of.

Thanks Michele for the info. I'll check my pc to see if it has an editor.

There are several from here selling seeds on the Lily Auction right now:

Dot (ladylovingdove)
Michele (tink3472)
Leslie (Lalambchop)
Ann (farmerbell)

Cindy (hemlady) usually sells seeds a little later.

Debra (shive1) on here usually sells some too but I think she has a different user name on the LA.

Pretty soon Mona will be selling (monalisa) if she gets her photos resized. Mona I just keep a folder on my computer where I save all the resized photos I use on the Lily Auction. Next year you will still have the resized photos and you will only need to add your new daylilies.

Mona,

Yes it is time consuming to resize your photos, but you don't have to do them all, just the ones you want to use on there. I have a special folder that I keep my "Lilyauction pics" in. also Mona just use the HYBRIDIZERS pictures, everyone else does, they don't care. And theirs are already resized for their websites. Besides by using their pictures, then they don't have any unflattering photos of their beautiful daylilies being posted. Thats WAY too easy for me.

Thanks Ann for mentioning me. I thought I should mention that I sell under the name of Lighthousegal on LA and yes I do sell a little later, either September or October. I should be starting to sell some plants soon though for late August shipment and September shipment.

Thumbs up Thumbs up Dot has saved my life!!!!! She and I talked tonight and she told me about a program called "XnView" for windows. It's a free program that I was able to download. So far, it's fantastic to resize photos on MY pc and I don't have to do the upload, resize, download, upload that takes forever!!!! Wonderful, oh, can you tell I'm now happy Thumbs up Smiling Hurray! I just knew they had to be a betterr way. I'm going to give the link I finally found to use. i did have a few setbacks because I loaded the software from the wrong site and they gave me a bunch of software that I did not want. Had to unload, but even then, it only took a few minutes. Once I hit the right site, it only took about 5 mintues to be up and discovering the way to resize my photos. It's really simple if you are just a little familiar with photo software. I haven't tried anything but the resizing options so I can't say about the other function, yet.

Here's the link:

If you have any problems, I will help with what I know. I'm gone for the night, it's been along day and I'm poooooooped! See ya'll tomorrow. Blessings, Mona

I am so happy I was able to help you Mona. I know what it is like to be frustrated with computer problems. That is a program that my computer guru (repairman) downloaded for me, just to resize my pictures, and it was free.
