Today was a scuddy-cloud day. But it's mostly clearing up now. Some of the peaks are hidden by the clouds.

You can see how brilliantly white the snow is once the clouds move away for a few minutes.

Foreground is the Denver Broncos' practice area. Woopty-doo. Mountains are pretty, though.

I had to go downtown today, which I despise. I *hate* going downtown. Bleh. Anyways, on my way back south on I25, came along side of one of these. Anyone know what it is? Take a good look. (oh, and it's the rig in front, what is it carrying? I *do* know the answer, but I'm curious as to if anyone else sees them regularly)

Nerve gas? Nuclear waste? Empty missile silos? Bovine waste repositories? Giant containers of Velveeta?

DING DING DING!! We have a winner!!

Nuclear Waste removal is exactly what these carry. Each of these giant bins are steel & concrete (mostly concrete) are like 3' thick and the actual cylinder that holds the nuclear waste is a little bit bigger than a thermos. If I remember correctly (when one of brought to my college a few years ago), it's 100% bullet proof (the people who brought them shot up one of them with a 12gauge shotgun w/slugs, a 44mag pistol, and a .232 rifle), and only carts around like 1lb of nuclear waste. These puppies are on their way down to Carlsbad/Hobbs, NM, where they'll be placed in the salt flat caverns, which are giant natural salt caves.

(Could you imagine how much nachos you could make if these were Velveeta? Wow!)

And there you are taking pictures of it. And they probably have a picture of you taking a picture of it. The big "THEY"! We'll stand behind you when Scully and Mulder come knocking on your door. We'll appear before the Grand Jury. "That's right, Your Honor, those pictures were all part of the entertainment on an online rose discussion forum!" Thumbs up "Options to kill the Japanese Beetles!"

oh, and another note, there's a US Marshall tailing the vehicle and usually one in the cab who have orders to shoot to kill anyone trying to stop the rig.

But I thought that nuclear waste was transported in open-liquid bin vehicles like what happened to Chevy Chase in "Modern Problems" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006SSPEO/)

Darn, I thought we were finally going to find out how Velveeta was safely transported. {{{It's an alien life form, you know.}}}

I was talking to a customer up in Albert Lea a few years ago. He told me that the Velveeta plant caught fire once and that cheese product was flowing out into the street. I don't know if he was pulling my leg or not. But it forms an interesting picture in my head. What to bring to the Velveeta flow!

A massive can of Wolf-brand chili and a case of Frito chips is what I would have brought! And a couple of cases of Coke for everyone! One of those blow-up-TV screens & a DVD movie.. heck ya! Perhaps a couple of smoker BBQs w/racks of pork ribs on it.. make a HUGE party out of it!

Terri - What a funny image that creates, rivers of flaming Velveeta, thick with acrid smoke. It's like something out of a cheap Sc-Fi movie - The Cheese that Choked Chattanooga.

If Velveeta were a rose, I wonder which rose it might be?
(i.e. A rose much more popular than anyone who knows it well could explain, but one with certain simple animal attractions. Not necessarily the color of cheese.)

I think that, if Velveeta was cheese, it'd be like Mr. Lincoln. Readily available everywhere (grocery stores, big boxes, all online suppliers, good & bad), beautiful rose (Velveeta "looks" like what we think cheese should look like), great smell (Velveeta has that great "cheesy" smell), lasts long time (As does Velveeta, refrigerated or not), not too thorny (Velveeta is easy to cut, easy to cook with, easy to eat, easy on the digestive track), grows easily (Well, Velveeta doesn't grow too easily, but it's not hard to make), lives in almost any environment (much like Velveeta).

Big Grin
