oh...What fun... I hadn't noticed the saga of the balls before... very interesting ...karma... I'd check the end of the limb..it might have been " helped " to fall.. so repairs could be started.. and paid for by his home owners policy.. for his son..
That is a glorious horse Sandi.. strong and muscular.. how tall is it... looks to be maybe 16 ft tall.. imagine it at night... with red lights for eyes... something out of ghost riders in the sky..
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed steers he saw
A'plowin' through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel

Thanks for that article link, Sharon! I hadn't thought about that as a possibility. I can't imagine anyone being able to get it home without a trailer!

Gordon, you might be right. Shortly after the "incident," the car disappear and was replaced by a truck. I hadn't thought about the rolling balls of thunder in a long time!

I have a bird cage that's 45 years old. It's about 4 1/2' tall. Has been white, black, and now red. Doesn't show up very well in photo, but there's cane begonias blooming in it now. Hangs from a tree limb out back by the fence. I have a pesky squirrel that likes to lounge in the begonias. Makes a mess.

Thanks Vic, we had a really dry summer. Not much blooming, so I had to keep moving things around. Just like magic, October is cooling everything down and now we're starting to see a few blooms.

Very striking Sandi - I like it red, it's a subtle spot of color, and great offset to the big pot. Love the whole scene.

I like using metal in the garden. Here I have re-purposed very old discarded bed frames. Since I like the rusty look I did not refinish them.

Thumb of 2014-10-14/grannysgarden/14fe30

and large metal items can be used as an individual focal piece to enhance a plain planting
Thumb of 2014-10-14/grannysgarden/b1052b

and several small ones can be grouped together so it will not look like you need to tidy the garden. lol
Thumb of 2014-10-14/grannysgarden/f0a74d

I put two painted bedframes behind a group of old galvanized buckets I am using as planters.
Thumb of 2014-10-14/grannysgarden/63b790
I noticed that the paint on these are beginning to peel showing several different colors of paint the previous owners used. This will give me the opportunity to repaint them with my favorite color next spring.
The best thing about this is..... it is fun! I love the individual look it creates in a garden and it is almost free. I also like to think I am keeping items out of landfills.

As for welding.... I wish!!!
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
