Here's some new hypertufa pots I made this year. They've just finished curing and are now ready to plant. I've got even more still curing out back.

And here are some of them planted up. These poor semps have been waiting years for a bigger pot.

Wow, Tabby,

You have a beautiful crop there.

Love the colors. Are you using cement stains or regular paint of some kind?

I'm using cement colorant which is mixed in when making the hypertufa so it goes all the way through.

Wow, great bunch of tufa pots. Love all the different colors too. I haven't made very many this summer (yet). Still hope to get some done. I just don't know where this summer went. Blinking I made a couple earlier this summer but it has just been too hot.

What a great bunch of pots Tabby. You have really been busy. Don't know how you did that in all the heat you've been getting this summer.

Lynn, It's not bad out around 6 or 7 in the morning. Smiling Smiling Smiling

I found a plastic dish pan and am making some nice sized rectangular ones now.

I have to have somewhere to plant all those semps I got in trades - they are currently in 6 inch plastic pots but will do better in the hypertufa over the winter.

Can these pots be left outside in the winter in zone 5a? Nice pictures and wonderful idea.

Yes they can. Chris (goldfinch4) lives in zone 4 and leaves hers outside year round.

I have all the stuff to make them, but still haven't given it a try. Maybe I will do some when my daughter comes for a visit.

What type of mold did you use ? Also, what do you add to make the colors? I want to try a couple for my mini hosta. Maybe a rectangled one too. Any suggestions and a recipe for what you used. They look great!

Thanks,
Teresa

Teresa, I see in one of her above posts the she uses a cement colorant. She adds it when she is mixing up the ingredients for the hypertufa.
I think she uses plastic dishpans, bowls, anything that has the size and shape you want for your finished product.

I agree Lynn you are correct. You can also use latex paint and mix at bit in with the mix
