Hilarious!

I haven't given it much thought, either. This has been a bummer of a garden year.

I have a few seeds (5?) for echinacea Cheyenne Spirit. Might do a few pow wow wild berry, too. Don't want to overdo it though, after losing so many to aster yellows this year.

My flower beds really need to be thinned out, anyway. This one looks decent from a distance.

Like I said, a tough year.

I agree. Tough year, although for different reasons here. Sigh, if we just don't have an instant freeze this fall/winter, I'll be able to do a better job of getting things ready for next year. But I really do want to try to get a few more perennials in place. And got fingers crossed that my daylily seedlings will survive the winter and bloom next year! They're looking good now. Smiling

I bought a few Cheyenne Spirit seeds and will give them a try. Hope they are better then magic Box. Thumbs down Thumbs down I have some pink Echies that I will dig in the spring, then I will have room for the CP plants. The ones I'm moving are half magic box and half are grown from my collected seed. This is there 2nd year. I guess I'll give them to the garden clup to sell.

I collect seeds and plants all year, but try now for the end of season sales.
Today it is Amsonia, Canterbury Bells and Drachocephalum.
The packets of Calendula and Blue Nigella fell out together, and I'm thinking they would be a good combination.
This is early for Seed catalogues? or maybe down south you need them now?

I plan all winter, and then it comes down to which seeds germinate the best, and which plants survive the winter.
Right now I am still seeding biennials. Siberian Wallflower, For-Get-Me-Nots, Iceland poppies, Sweet William.
A tray of red orientale poppies is ready to plant out, but I am waiting for cooler cloudy days.

I guess Washington State is not much south, but you are a warmer area!
I grew up in New Westminster in British Columbia so am familiar with coastal climates.

I just sorted out my seed box and found some old seeds that I will try. Some have been tried before with no luck but I hate to just throw things out
Job's tears
Catwiskers
skullcap

I am trying not to enlarge any flower beds but after this rough year(heat and drought)I know there will be some spaces come spring.
I try not to look at catalogs till January otherwise I make plans and then forget them and make new plans then have too much Rolling my eyes.

I'm definitely going to try some winter sowing this year (yes, Karen! Hilarious! ); I have a few things I want to try and a few things I always grow that would lend themselves well to that method.

the great thing about WS is I do it in the first week of February when it is too early to do anything else, and it frees up time during the busy spring season.

One thing I want to grow is a patch of Salvia lyrata which has maroony brown leaves.
And with it : allium moly--- the yellow flowering allium.
The Salvia will be from seeds, and I'll look for the allium bulbs in the fall.

Oh my goodness...I do NOT need to see new seed catalogues already!! However, few packages of seeds did follow me home when I bought my stash of potting mix for the winter. I can only find one place that carries Metro-Mix, and it's about 50 miles away. I stock up twice a year, so now I'll be ready when I start seeds in January. I found some winter savory seeds there--that will be something new for our plant sale in the spring,

Metro Mix is my all-time favorite for starting seedlings and potting up!

A garden center nearby assured me that they'd always have some in stock...not. I went by there yesterday and all they had was Sunshine. I got a really good deal on it (four bucks for a bag so big that I can't lift it Hilarious! )...just hope it works for me.

Where did you find yours, Linda?
