Hurray! Hurray! Thanks, Joanne! I love petunias, too, but I just can't figure out what the names really are!

I'll do my best. We just got back from a camping trip, so I hope to have a look at this over the next few days

Dave,
The "Search by Characteristics" for petunias looks awesome! I guess the big job is get the existing entries with all this added info.

One more request: Daylight Neutral Yes or No (some petunias are sensitive to the length of day and will stop producing new flower buds when the days get shorter)

Onions should also have that in the list of characteristics. Good request Joanne. I would think there are many other plants that should be added to.

I think what we should do for that is add a checkbox under "Miscellaneous" for all plants for "Daylight length sensitivity".

Then for specific details "Long-day onions", to use Lynn's example, we can get specific in the custom databases. Sound like a plan?

Well, on second thought, "Daylight length sensitivity" isn't terribly useful. It's probably better to address this exactly as Joanne has suggested - in the custom databases. Then each one can specify its characteristics that are appropriate for that kind of plant.

On the other hand, having a box for "daylight length sensitivity" might key the person looking at the entry to look for more specific information. I didn't know that petunias cared about daylight length till someone mentioned it in one of the threads.

Certain colours within a series may have different daylight sensitivities. The varieties that are daylight neutral will set buds/bloom earlier in the spring and also into late fall

I have some great resources. I spent the last 2 years working for a wholesale grower (annuals) and the last year specifically managing inventory and production. Hopefully my collection of resource material will come in super handy for this data base. Just need to catch up on the housework and I'm on it.

I've added you as moderator over Calibrachoa.

As for Petchoa, we don't really have any plants yet so I can't make a parent plant (which is a step necessary to have a moderator).
