I wasn't sure how to post this. Thought about dumping it with Mark's thread but didn't seem right. So here's a new thread for those thinking of making a crevice garden big or small.
Created this yesterday with extra semps pulled from the bed I'm weeding.

Great idea Julia, starting a 'come all' Crevice Garden thread.
Love that container, and it is amazing how quickly they start filling in.

The one you encouraged me to do last year needs some work. Here it is back in September. It has grown more since them and is really needing some work to bring it into scale.

I left you a bag of small slate last year at clinic. You should add some. I need to get more and will add to this one.

Yes, I was just looking at it yesterday. Another project for tomorrow. Hurray!
Hmmm, and maybe it's a good time to start another crevice garden?

Great ! Darn squirrels, I potted up some semps to root and they thought I put them there to store their peanuts in.

Did y'all see the crevice garden built on the flat rock kind of like my little rock garden that I brought to the clinic? Pretty cool and I wonder how they kept the uprights from flopping over...

Larry those squirrels can sure be a problem. We just have one that comes visiting now and then. He is bad for burying acorns, walnuts and hazelnuts. Mostly he behaves himself. When I do new plantings I put bird netting over it until they are well rooted in. I am so thankful that I don't have the ground squirrels that Kevin has. Sad

Connie, I did see that one and found it very interesting. Bet they are wedged in at the bottom with smaller rocks. It is so interesting.

I could see something like this done at the far end of the new 24 foot raised bed? What do you guys think? What a great way to get more planting space. Go vertical.

So many wonderful ideas... Yeah, you could try something like that at the end of a bed.

Thanks, Julia, for starting this thread AND posting a starting crevice garden to go with it! I like the simplicity of it as the semps will be showcased more with fewer rocks. I've seen some arrangements where the rocks are more prominent than the plants.

I agree Bev, that is why I really like the stacked stone wall with semps everywhere.
