You have some beauties, Greg. I tried to get Wintry Sky this year, but it was sold-out. It's on my list for next year. nodding

Hi,! I have only a very few Keppel iris, some of his old ones, that are "historic". I'm mainly into "historics", Re-bloomers, and "family-hand-me-downs".The few "new" cultivars I buy are mostly for "theme" beds( I'm starting on "Indian tribes", now). One thing I like to do, and I guess it's silly, is to buy from the hybridizer, if possible. If I want a Hedgecock iris, I buy from Comanche Acres, Spoon iris come from Winterberry, etc. This is sort of impossible for most historics, of course, those guys(and gals) are long gone to the Garden in the Sky! Angel With a lot of the Hybridizers not listing their older intros, or only selling thru other vendors,a person is somewhat limited in where they buy. Keppel has had a LOT of neat intros Thumbs up , and I'm sure I'll get more of them(as they AND I get older, and become "historics"! Whistling )...Arlyn

I just Googled Keith Keppel Irises -- and found his 2012, 2011 and 2010 introductions -- but no prices for anything. How does one go about getting that information?

Keith Keppel and Joe Ghio you need to send for a catalog. They don't put the things they offer on the internet. I think there catalogs are about $3 and are available late winter-early spring. The reading is worth the cost.

Paul Thank You for the kind words This was the 1st year that Adriatic Waves looked really good here it has been growing fine but just never bloomed like that so I was thrilled when it put on a show this year unfortunately it was one of the clumps that the scorch got to I was able to save a few bulbs and bought a couple more to replace what was lost I hope it blooms next year.

Mary Ann these pictures are a mix from my gardens, Schreiners and Kieths garden this spring and I agree with Lucy if you can buy the bulb from the grower it is well worth the extra money spent ,you will get great quality and it will be true to name. Most of the time when I think I am going to save money buying it for less somewhere else I regret the decision this summer I bought 1 bulb of Monmarte from Joe Ghio and 3 from another online source and they both arrived at the same time and the 1 bulb from Ghio was bigger than the other 3 combined and his was dug fresh and rooted in a week the others are still just sitting there trying to decide if they want to live. If you need prices from Kieth send me a tree mail of what your after and Ill look them up for you in the catalog and send you his contact info.

I seem to remember that EYE CANDY was really hard to find a few years ago when I went searching for it. Seems to me I finally got it from Aitken's or another one of those places where I only occasionally shop -- and it had won the BB award that year, too -- same thing happened with CHRISTIANA BAKER. Seems like just when I decide I truly like something and really want it, it becomes hard-to-find! So if you want EYE CANDY you might want to start searching now for an iris garden that carries it...

Thanks Betty for the heads up on Eye Candy. I'll have to order that one early if I find it.
OK, Mary Ann, it's time for you to get your iris in a data base! nodding It's not that hard if you have Excel
Just make a column for the name of the iris, then in the next column list the name of the person who hybredized it, If you want you can add a column where you got it, also when you planted it, Which bed it's planted in and any other data you want. You can do all kinds of sorting, if you put a heading on each column, you can sort by each one. You can get them all in Alphabetical order, then sort by bed, or what ever. I'll bet you have a lot more of Keppel's irises. Sounds like a good winter project????

You're right Tom -- I've been dragging my feet on that project. Actually, it hasn't been until the past two or three years that I've had so many different varieties that I've needed some kind of coherent tracking system. I pretty much know them by heart (the names) -- but like I said, I haven't paid any attention to the hybridizers except for the Ghio's.

I think this computer probably has some kind of office system that would contain a spread-sheet -- but I haven't bothered with stuff like that since I closed my business five years ago. Now my computer is purely for fun and research/information. But thanks for the prod -- sometimes that's all we need to get the job done! Rolling my eyes.
