If this is a real pansy, I'm going to want it!
By "real", I mean if it blossoms in a c lump on a stem like this and it's not just a bouquet photographed at an angle that makes it look that way.

Anybody know?

Every once in a while I get a bloom like that on those really ruffly pansies. Most of the blooms look more like this in shape:

Yours is a double, right?
And even your plant usually blooms single, right?
If so, my photo is probably from an abberation...

Uh oh, I think mine was just ruffled. If there are double pansies, I'm hunting them down.

Wish I could find a better picture of those, but I do believe they just went on my "WANT!" list. Hilarious!

And there's a lighter mix, one of which looks a lot like your photo. But they're still only single flowers. Betcha that's what they are, tho.

I think you're right.
And all the colors in the mix are ok by me,
Perhaps I'll order seeds despite that hey are not as spectacular as a cluster on one stem.....
Thanks for the link!

They're still pretty amazing. I may have to order both! And after reading the planting instructions, I think I see why I sometimes have a bit of a problem getting pansies started; looks like I may have them too warm.

Sometimes my storebought pansies reseed themselves.
So if I buy seeds, I'll probably just scatter tehm and cross my fingers.

Me, too, usually.
And I used to be with seeds.
But now that I am getting a good plant collection together, I can relax with the (not-as-expensive) seeds and just let Mother N. take care of things!

I'm also obviously much more of a cheapskate! I don't call $3.99 for 20 seeds not expensive. Hilarious! Of course, I also plant my seeds with tweezers.......... Whistling

I didn't look at the price before I said that.....
NOT inexpensive, but not as expensive as plants.

I USED to plant my seeds with tweezers.
Anxiety would rise as I did it.
GARDEN is NOT for ANXIETY!!!!!!!!!!
So I backed off.

Now I scatter seeds over a 6-12" area of pot with soil in it and relocate the sprouts one by one with a spoon.
At least I know which ones are coming up before I get persnickity with them!

Now I never fill a peat pot, carefully put 3 seeds in it, and then end up tossing it in the compost.
THAT's not economical, either!

GARDEN is for stress relief, not stress!

See, everybody is different! It causes me much less anxiety to carefully tuck one little seed into a cell of a pony pack, secure in the knowledge that if something comes up, I'll know exactly what it is and won't have to stress about thinning out little roommates. Hilarious! (However, this does NOT apply to lobelia "seeds," aka "plant dust." Hilarious! )

Yes, a single zucchini seed is no stress.
Lobelia on the other hand......

Well my cut off point is a bit smaller than zucchini.....alyssum is about as small as I'm willing to fuss over. Green Grin! But I LOVE alyssum and grow tons of it. Smiling
