FYI for those of you on Facebook - there is a group called "Trade, Buy and Sell Daylilies" (clever name Sticking tongue out ) that has some pretty active members. There are some hybridizers who chime in from time to time. I thought I would pass along the info because there are other group members who do sell/trade daylilies for pretty good prices. Just one example, I picked up 4 fans of GREEN ARROW for $20. And because I know all of you need another daylily oriented group to join! Big Grin

The group is listed as 'closed' but the folks who set it up have been letting people join pretty quickly.

Thanks for letting us know! I belong to a few FB groups. They are usually easy to join.

I joined.

I was also kicked off in 3 hrs because I posted that I would like to know whether someone had or was treating for rust if they wanted to trade with me. Something that is discussed very easily and readily on the old and very active daylily trade group spring and fall. (I am trading there currently). Something that is easily and readily discussed here as well.

Apparently JP thought he had a right to rule saying I was a bad business person asking that question as he immediately amended that someone who was a bad business person would be banned.

All for asking that someone who wanted to trade with me should please let me know there rust conditions? HUH? Many do that, not just me. And I will always ask before accepting plants. Happy homeowner in MA cannot spray and I don't have nor do I want rust. And we often have winter conditions where E and SE stay up.

There are those that seem to think that by not talking about it, it will go away.

I will send anyone interested his horrible emails to me. But will not post them publicly here. As well, I'll share my original notes asking about rust.

I'll stick to those I know and those on the trademart that Diane Pruden runs.

I wouldn't mind a trading list here, either, as those participating here also seem to be honest about it.

Thanks for the heads up BB. I won't be joining. I don't like it when people are treated badly, especially when it was a very valid question.

I agree That wasn't very nice. I think we should have a right to know if the plants have rust or not.

I would think it would be ok to talk about rust also. I don't worry about it to much here - I seldom get in new plants, and have seen no sign of it since 2001. But, I fully understand wanting to ask about it.

I am sorry you had a bad experience on their FB group.

3 hours is pretty quick. Shrug! I try not to react quickly here on this forum. In a year, I have had very little problems here. Great group of folks here at ATP.

There is a trade/swap forum on ATP. I have not checked it out, as to difficult for me to dig and send plants any more.

I agree I would love to see a daylily trading list here in the Daylily Forum (easy to find and follow); especially if it included seed trading Green Grin!

i am grateful to jwwc for posting the FB info; it was very well intentioned, i am sure, and new resources are always welcome (even ones that help us understand where people are still struggling).

i am also grateful to bb for spreading light ... please, also, would you mind posting links/where to find for:

daylily trade group spring and fall.
trademart that Diane Pruden runs

They sound like great resources.

And, by the way, your garden design site is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l bb ... it is easy to tell that you love plants.

JWWC, I hope you don't think we are picking on you. I really (REALLY!) enjoy your sense of humor, and your excitement about plants! The FB group has nothing to do with you as a person, and I'm happy to know that you've found it a good place to make trades, or buy plants. I don't approve of the "leader" kicking someone out over a very valid question, but I'm not in the group, so I'm judging them by what is posted here. Please don't think we are judging you because of that group. True, I'm only speaking for myself, but I'm sure that we all feel this way.

Tina, I couldn't agree more about Bobbie's garden designs! They are stunning, and I don't think I've ever seen anything better! Drooling

Bobbie, I keep forgetting to ask if the photos on your site are from your own yard, or ones that you have designed. I am totally in love! You are truly gifted!

Juli, thanks for letting us know that there is a trade/swap forum here at ATP! I still haven't managed to find everything on the site, as I keep having fun on the Daylily forum! I've ventured out just a bit, and visited a couple other forums, but only when I've needed help. It's nice to find friends from this forum on all the forums I've visited. That way, I don't feel like the new kid in school!

I would also like to add that I've seen nothing bad here on ATP, and feel that it's a safe place for people to ask questions and discuss things, no matter what the subject is. I've had one person rub me the wrong way (not on this forum, or any that I've posted on!), but it really wasn't bad. I just ignore them.

I don't. I can only post of the experience I have had - which has been positive. Of course, given that I live in an area with winter, I haven't asked about rust. I just thought I would share. If someone else can benefit from it that's great. I kind of want to go poke the beehive though. Big Grin

I joined the 1st. day and listed a bunch of seedlings which I have sold none of so far. I thought it was set up so easily and all I did was list them without 40 other things I had to do. I think it was too easy for me LOL. I and a lot of the others have ( or had) no knowledge of the above problem and have had none myself. I wish it was that way for everyone. I did get a cple fantastic buys and am happy about that but would have liked to have sold something to help pay for things. Oh Well.

I am a longtime daylily hybridizer (26+ years) currently hybridizing Barth Daylilies for O'Donal's Nursery in Gorham, Maine. I have access to most Barth Daylilies and the daylilies of many other daylily hybridizers. Currently I am interested in daylily trades for reliable large flowered tetraploid and diploid rebloomers (may include true spiders). These should be northern grown, disease free, hardy, multiple-branched (3 or more branches) and with good bud counts (15 or more buds). Please reply asap for shipment this spring to O'Donal's Nursery, 6 County Road, Scarborough, ME 04074. Thank you for your attention.
