This is Jin Zhang Fu Rong, or Hibiscus in a Brocade, from TreePeonyGarden in 2014. Each year it seems to give me a different looking flower. This morning.
I am only slowly becoming familiar with the various types of Peonies. Since I don't know the difference enough to state an opinion, I'll go with the majority vote(s).
Think you'll be our early bird every year now, Debra! Beautiful flower, congratulations! Nice that you have irises blooming with them, aren't they great companions?
Just another day or 2 of sun and yours will be open too, Gary! Both of you are lucky ducks to have blooms this early!
Liz, I have an Iris and Daylily 'Share' category for you on my plant list. Since the September ship didn't happen, it needs to be updated... If you want some eye candy, you can also go look at my FB Iris photo albums .
@graycrna4u Are you finding that your peonies near the house with sun are a bit more developed than bushes that are well away from the structure?
I've got 3 NOIDs near my house that are all up and growing while the ones further from the building are, for the most part, just starting to crest. There is nothing special about where they are planted beyond being close to the house.

The return of perennials in the spring can feel like once again seeing an old friend
Since we have just started this thread here with such beautiful photos, it was requested that I move these into separate threads for 2020 blooming Itohs, 2020blooming tree peonies, 2020 blooming herbaceous peonies. These threads have been started. I am unable to merge what has been posted here so far. So feel free to repost on appropriate threads.
