This plant is amazing, but I want to cut it back as the stems are getting too long, should I wait until it stops blooming

This is as close as I can get, as you can see it already tipped over and broke the pot.

Would a heavy clay/pottery pot keep it from tipping over? I think it is a lovely size. Hate to see it clipped back simply for size.

I would never trim a plant that was in full bloom unless I absolutely had to.

I guess I did not put it right, I sure do not want to do anything while it is blooming talking about after it finishes blooming, I know I must re pot it and I have the pot, just wondered if you would leave it this big or cut the limbs shorter.

Sorry Doris you said 'should I wait until it stops blooming' and I went OMG she is going to cut off all those blooms!!! Blinking yes I think I would trim it, it has a beautiful caudex and a bunch of shorter stems would offset that very well. I would only trim the longest ones so you don't have to wait for each of them to grow new tips.

Be sure to show us how you trim up. I am a clod when it comes to trimming anything green! t hurts me more than it hurts them. And I simply don't have the eye for it. I will watch and learn.

Can someone please post a picture of a "perfectly trimmed" adenium so I know what they are supposed to look like? I thought Doris' looked great as is but Hetty suggests shorter stems. I want to learn.

Cheryl, look in the database for various pictures. There is nothing wrong with Doris' plant, but shorter stems give a fuller look.

Ok thanks. When I first Googled pictures, what I fell in love with were looooong bare gray green branches with amazing flower bouquets on the ends. I told you I didn't have "the eye" for this. Rolling on the floor laughing I can see why you'd want it full and compact.
