Has anyone tried WS of Canterbury Bells? the tall double kind?
How did it work out? Did they flower the first year? they are biennial.

I wish I had thought of them when I was starting biennials.
Canterbury Bells are on Trudi's list for Zone 3 so I think that is an okay method too.

I winter sowed the single variety. Great germination. Bloomed second year.

Since I have the seeds, I might as well give it a go.
Thanks!

I plan to try WS-ing some of the different varieties of Campanula I have lying around, too. Haven't had a lot of luck with trying to start them in the GH, so WS is most likely a good option. (Geez, but I hate admitting that to Karen! Hilarious! )

Hilarious! I had great success with campanula carpatica, but it's the only one I've done.

I had one of those grow by accident, and it's so pretty I'd really like more! Smiling

Yes, that makes a good border or edge planting.
I keep meaning to get that going too.
Apparently some get them to reseed in Calgary, but mine have not.

I winter sowed Campanula carpatica this year, and I love it. Lovey dubby

Was tickled to find about a dozen Canterbury Bells seedlings while I was weeding their bed today. I hadn't seen any earlier in the year so I wasn't sure how many I'd get.

-So for W/S these I'd expect to hold over the containers for quite a while. They seem to show up later than a lot of others do.

I did get some germination, but I should have moved them to a shady spot earlier, as they did not like the heat.
