I think often that purple is used with whites too. I know from my own experience I have crossed 2 purples and got a near white flower.

Wow Cindy! I had no idea!! I'll give that a try! So far I haven't been crossing daylilies of the same color, thinking that they would just turn out to be the same color as the parents! Now I'm excited! Hurray! Hurray!

Oh you never know what you'll get so go for it. I've also crossed 2 pinks and got a couple of yellows and a good near white.

Hector, I had heard a long time ago that white was a great color to use when trying to clear up colors. Have you found that to be true? Maybe you haven't worked with a lot of colors though, so it may be a question that someone else will have to answer.

No Natalie, I have seen some Stamile flowers that he claims will clarify muddy colors but I have never try ed using other colors to achieve this. I have never crossed my whites with other colors, except for this year. I want a toothy near white so I loaded my best cream whites with fantastic frindge and M. Brooker and hope. I remember one time I crossed enchanted April with Ragamuffin and got a pretty decent cream white. other than white on white I usually just cross pretty on pretty, but you never know what you gonna get Example Diana x Butch and barbs cracked eggs, three siblings.

Wow! Those first three siblings are right up my alley! Drooling My favorite pictures are always sibling pictures, because I'm amazed at how different the siblings can be. I think that is what makes hybridizing so much fun! The last group is beautiful too! I'm just a sucker for pink! If it's got an edge, even better! I really hope you achieve your goal of a pure white, but if you don't, you've obviously got others that are amazing, and that you can register! Thumbs up

That's exactly why I try to do at least 300 every year so I always have something different to look at, the one fault I have is that I hate keeping up with parentage and all the paperwork involved and it comes back to bite me every now and again, Here are a few that I wish I had.

I agree Your seedlings are GORGEOUS!!! Every one of them is special. Many of us here love to see the parentage, but it's not even required if you want to register one. I've tried to be really careful when noting the parents of my seeds and seedlings, but I'm bound to slip up eventually! It will probably be on the one that is the best one!

With that said, this last group is AMAZING! I couldn't even pick a favorite, even though they are all so different. I really love them! I'm not a big fan of red, but that red seedling is stunning!

Have you registered any so far?

Beautiful seedlings, Hector. I particularly like that last one with BUTCH & BARBARA'S CRACKED EGGS as the pollen parent.

Also, when you want to bring a quote from someone else down to another post, the way you can make it stand out is to highlight what you want to quote and then go to the bottom of that particular post and select "Quote," and it will put that quote in a box down where "Your message" is and you can then write your text underneath the quote. That way it really stands out and is less confusing.

First of I want to thank all of you for the nice comments on my flowers and for making me feel welcome. No Natalie I have not registered any but there are a few that I would like to, If only I didn't have the hassle of naming them, I find it amazing how these hybridize-rs keep coming up with these names!
These are the ones.

WOW!!!!!! Stunning!!!!!!

Hector, you can always have a naming contest, if you find that you can't come up with a name on your own. Fred (Spunky1) has had three of them this year, and it was a lot of fun! Of course, you don't have to choose a name from the ones that people think up, but it's a great way to get names, and I would bet that someone would come up with a perfect one! There are so many creative thinkers here!

Here's the link to the thread for his last contest, to give you an idea of how to go about doing it:

Hector,

Your white seedlings are gorgeous. I also like the one that looks like Holy Guacamole.
Yes you can do a naming contest, it would be fun.

I would think, we'd even be willing to offer suggestions for free! Nothing like giving someone a suggestion and them using that name.

I totally love your seedlings. The purples above are stunning. The group of "mary's Baby x Ron Valente" I wasn't familar with either parent so I looked them up. They are pretty but your seedlings are awesome! I especially like the second and fourth ones.

Now, for your ones that you might register right above this, the nearly total white ones would be the best for me. You've just about one the dot on those two. I've looked at all of yours and you sure do have a lot of winners. Thumbs up

Totally love your seedlings. Your whites are amazing. They look very white.
All are awesome. Congratulations on the results of your efforts. I know how
much work and time it takes to do this. Not the easiest thing in the world
to do. Easy to dab pollen, but all the rest is a lot of work, and it's not that easy
to select for registering.
