I will have to give my very large plant a severe trim before repotting to bring it in this winter. I will have enough to
make about 5 or 6 pots with 3 or 4 cuttings in each. It bloomed early this year - in June - instead of the usual September.
The cuttings would be unrooted but root very easily and have to be at least 3 or 4 years for new plants to reach the
blooming age. I sat in the yard in a plastic chair, with a flashlight, to watch this bloom open. It began to open at 7:30 p.m.
and was fully opened at 10:30 p.m. Of course, it was wilted by noon the next day. But, the effort was worth the wait.

I think the cuttings would ship in a large padded envelope. I'm not sure what the postage would be. Let me know if you are interested.

Edited to say: My plant is in a 16" pot and I trimmed it this afternoon to about 30" above the pot rim. I have 2 five gallon buckets of
large cuttings free for just enough to cover postage.

If i didn't already have a baby,that was started last year!!! I would definitely love to have one!! I can't wait until mine blooms ,but i have no idea how long it will take for the plant to be mature enough to bloom having been started from a leaf ?? I sure hope i don't miss it,wouldn't that be just awful

I can send you enough large limbs, that already have the root nubs on them, to make a full pot.
They are in buckets of water now and I didn't check for roots today. It would require one of those
long postal boxes. I can check for postage rates if you think you may want a box of cuttings.

My plant came from a friend whose family is from one of the Carolinas. The plant has been in
her family for a very long time - her grandparents, I think.

But i have managed to get a bunch of babies of all sort's.The 5 epi's started from leaves have really just had a growth spurt.I would show pictures but my computer is not being very cooperative with me, it won't stay on!! It only needs about $150. to fix it but i have been spending more time than usual in hospital and that has made me short on funds for everything else.Hopefully soon i will be back into picture sharing!!

I also have other's i'm still trying to figure out,mostly succulents but, the type i am not familiar with.

The plant was 1 long stalk that was literally growing in a spiral shape & it has babies under almost ever set of leaves.I believe the ID is correct.It turns pink not purple in the sun.If your interested send me a message.I try to get on my daughters computer when i can!!

Louise, I have had one of these plants for years it bloomed 2 yrs ago & hasn't bloomed again ...Is there anything u might be able to tell me on some tips that u may have as to why it maybe doesn't bloom ???? Thanks,,

Thanks for the reply. My plant is about 10 or so years old and hasn't been repotted in the last four years. It's due for an overhaul before it comes
in for the winter. It had to be staked with three or four tall supports for the last year. Mine goes out in the morning and noonday sun as soon as
spring has no more freezes. I did fertilize it two or three times this summer - which may have caused the over-growth. The bloom was earlier this
year, I think, because of the fertilizer. I was in too big of a hurry when trimming it back a few weeks ago and cut off a long limb that had a small 4"
bloom beginning. But, the limbs were so many and so long that they were all tangled up. The normal bloom time is late September, according to
the friend who gave me the start.

I wish you much luck with your plant. The fragrance is astonishing and the lower part of the bloom is the size of my outstretched hand. Too bad it's
a one nighter and gone by noon the next day! It is pictured on the jacket of a large hardback book that I have and covers the entire front.

Does anyone know if or a way to ID an epi besides by it's bloom? Mine are young and probably won;t bloom for years and the girl i traded with forgot to include a list of the names of the plants she only remembered she put an oxy in the bunch.It was easy to figure out out which one it was from her description of "the one with the biggest leaf,"

I am going to post some pictures,if anyone has an educated guess or just they think it looks like one.I would love to have something to at least compare leaves with.

A priority package weighing an estimated three pounds going
to Georgia from my city would cost $9.70. Regular mail would
be $8.50. If it weighs less, it wouldn't be quite that much.
This is for a box that is 7" x 5 1/2" x 14 1/2".

I don't use PayPal, so it would have to be a check or MO to
cover the postage.

With winter almost here, I'm not interested in any new plants now - only in enough MO or check to cover postage.
The postal clerk gave me two boxes and said that the postage for 3 lbs. and under would be $9.70 from my house
sto Georgia, which would be about the same. I will be sending a few flat leaves in just a brown envelope to another
member. It should cost much less $3 or $4, maybe.
Please let me know. I have large, long cuttings with leaves on them, and many just leaves, long and short.

With winter in the offing, do you think they will still root well? Yes, I am pretty new at these plants, but assume that they're much like other succulents - bury the ends in porous soil, water once and ignore for a week or two? Or water not at all? Does bottom heat help with rooting them?

I mailed a 6"x9" envelope with 6 leaves in it to loloe this week. The postage was only $1.60. So, I guess you could send $2 for postage
and I can put together another package for you if you want. All leaves are not the same size or weight. Her mail went to Georgia which
may be a little farther than to Tennessee.
I mailed a priority box to PA today and it cost $8.05. So, it depends on distance, weight and method.
Let me know what you prefer. Some of the cuttings already have small roots formed just in the containers
of water.
