Over Labor Day weekend my DH and I took a motorcycle trip to northern Wisconsin and stopped at Simply Succulents. Actually, the name of their nursery is Big Brook – Simply Succulents is one of three businesses they run from that one location. The Big Brook nursery carries annuals and perennials, a nice selection of alpines and of course, succulents. Simply Succulents is their on-line business. They sell retail and wholesale. Their third business is making topiary forms. You really need to go to their website

It’s a great video and shows you how they make topiaries. Check out all their videos – they’re fun, well done and some have great music (like the Garden Fest 2012 video). There are videos of the garden fests held there the last couple of years too. Does that look like fun or what!
You just couldn’t ask for nicer people than Sue and Scott. They took several hours out of their busy day to “talk plants” and give us a behind the scene tour of their totally amazing greenhouses. Wow, I’m still drooling thinking about all the sempervivum and sedum I saw. And talk about a couple of hard working people. They literally built everything at the nursery themselves, including the greenhouses. In addition to everything I mentioned above, they have a large garden area at their nursery location showcasing many of their plants. I took a few pictures but kept getting side tracked with all the gorgeous plants they have for sale….wish I would’ve taken more (pictures, that is). I did manage to fit 10 plants in the tour pack on our bike. They survived the next several days on the highway well.
I’ve purchased from their website before and always received great plants.

They also have a real nice gift shop at their nursery with lots of great stuff including cool pots, fairies and other miniature garden accessories. It was a good thing we were on the motorcycle or I think I’d be broke!

They’ve been featured in probably every major gardening magazine in the U.S. and also on Martha Stewart’s website. Impressive!
