No other seeds want to join in at this time but I'll keep my fingers crossed. But I did say I would be happy with 1 plant out of 30, didn't I? Be careful what you wish for! Rolling on the floor laughing Oh well, I am best at spoiling one plant at a time. Hilarious!

Cheryl, just a thought, I think you mentioned 1/8 of soil on your seeds? I think possibly the reason you didn't have a better experience is that as far as I know that's too much soil! I believe the amount of soil should be no greater then the thickness of the seed. I'm sure others may have other opinions but I've had very good luck following that rule which I think came from Ol Wilfred. That's one of the reason ya have to use a spray bottle to water them so you can be careful and not wash away the oh so thin soil layer. No expert here, but just passing on a thought.

Thanks, Jim. I have more seeds coming from a plant exchange so I can try again. Seeds are all challenge for me, always has been. I don't *need* 30 adenium plants. I *need* the challenge. Some here probably can understand that? Question : Fall is approaching. Temps are dropping. Into the upper 80's in the day, mid 60'@ night. Should i store the next batch of seeds and wait for Spring? Or, start them indoors? New soil or is that rich Hawaiian volcanic sand mix still. Ok to use? Soooooo many Newbie questions! TIA Confused

Oh I so understand the challenge thing! I grew a Black sapote tree only because no one within miles did it or could do it. I'm still trying to pollinate desert rose and only had one time I was successful, (I envy Melissa's skill, not to mention Wilfreds) Most of my plants have no blooms cause I keep tearing off flowers and trying to collect pollen. the strange thing is that I need another Desert Rose like I need another%%%+#@ Anyway heres a shot of last years seedlings.Thumb of 2012-09-28/jimsned2/c76c9e

I don't use Wilfred's system for pollinating at all. Hum, I'll have to make a photo essay if I ever get another camera...

Melissa, I know you don't, thats why I mentioned I'm trying your method, I've seen it done like you do on some video or another. I've only had one time I was successful, and that was with Wilfords system, but your way seems a lot easier! Hey, how long has it been possible to click on a posted picture scroll down to the bottom of it and click on a whole batch of other pictures from the same camera? I just discovered that. Thumb of 2012-09-30/jimsned2/d74438 Has anyone ever seen an adenium like this? the leafs are huge, I thought it was a weed (no blooms) and was going to pull it out then I saw the root and figure it just has to be an adenium.

Hmm, I think that your first impression might be right, Jim. Doesn't really look adeniumish to me... Is the root soft, I mean, can you punch a hole in it with your fingernail like an adenium?

Hi Melissa, I've decided to just let the thig be till spring. I only had adenium (from seed) planted out there, so I want to give it a bit more time; still, I think it's a weed, but I've never seen a weed lie it.

Hmm, starting to look like a strangler fig... Does it SMELL like an adenium? All adeniums have a faint sharp stink... Maybe crush a definitely-adenium leaf, and compare with a crushed mystery-plant leaf.

yes I think the acuminate leaf is beginning to look distinctly non-adenium like.

Haha, if it is a strangler fig, it'll be 25 feet tall by spring!

"Where's Jim?" "He went out to look at his flowers and he got lost climbing a strange tree!"

So that's what a strangler fig might look like huh! I have this weed that if I let it will wrap around and smother my ficus hedge, and I thought that was a strangler fig. What d ya know I learn one thing or another every time I log on. I think that listening to what ol what's her name said I will dig it out and stick it in a pot B-4 it gets me. Hilarious!
