Yes, you are right Mike. I must have had a turn or something.

Got to mention this one for anyone who likes a more vibrant, purple-end-of-spectrum red. It does fade under our intense sun, but gradually, and to an equally nice brick red. It blooms low in the foliage for us, but we adore how the large, wide blossom balances with its low, wide foliage ... a real spot of elegance near the front of our full-sun flowerbed.

Brand new in our garden this year is Tribal Council--dark red double-- and My Heart Belongs To Daddy; therefore can't do a critique as to colorfastness, but we like the look of both of them. We think one of the prettiest reds we have is a Jack Carpenter reject we have had for a number of years, so I have been calling it "Ruby Red". As it happens, J. Carpenter registered a daylily named Red Ruby in 1993. Also, starting its first full year here is Collard Dream, a round rich red.

bramedog said:This one has been growing in my yard since I bought the house 17 years ago. I don't know what its name is. The scapes are about 16 inches tall and the flowers are maybe 5 inches. Color in the photo is close, may be a tad darker.

Maybe Red Magic or Autumn Red?

I know this is an old thread, but which of all these wonderful reds would be in this category:
--colorfast
--late bloomer
--red [not rose, pink red, etc.] though dark red may be ok
--rounded form preferred
--larger flower preferred
--taller preferred

Yes, I know this is a tall order, but I want to replace Chicago Apache which rounds out a diverse late blooming area. CA fades too much.
thanks

Brad, I hope someone can help because I am watching too. I do grow Caught Redhanded. It is a Rice cultivar and fits most of the requirements.
