My favorite was silk from each kernel. Next would be the cornflakes.
Only 8%? Blinking I think there would be a better way to eat corn. Thumbs up

I'm with Lynn about the silk from each kernel and the cornflakes. Hmmm, what's the other 92%? Blinking
And I read somewhere that corn is actually a grass. It does sort of look like wheat on steroids! Hilarious!

Better way to eat corn? On the cob, with butter and salt.

Corn is wind pollinated. You might see honey bees buzzing around the tassels, but they don't carry the pollen to the silk, the wind does that. Blank spaces on the cobs happen because each silk needs pollen to make a kernal of corn, and if they don't get it, the kernel isn't there. Using an overhead sprinkler to water corn when the tassels have pollen can result in the pollen being blasted off and washed away. A rainstorm could do the same thing, but we have no control over that.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

And the best way to cook that corn on the cob? Wrapped in aluminum foil on the barbeque! Yum!

I've heard about the wind pollination. That's why the instructions for planting I've seen always say that no matter how small a quantity you're planting, put them in closely spaced rows. I've successfully grown corn in earthboxes. Smiling

We practice that in growing out garden corn. Close together is the best.

Since we've moved out into the country, we're inundated by corn, but it was nice to read these facts. Our last attempt at growing sweet corn resulted in that Mexican delicacy. I did some research and found a picture somewhere of canned "huitlacoche". Oh my! Now I have to wonder, what is in corn flakes? Rolling my eyes.

LOL!! Living in Iowa I'm sure there's no shortage or corn, as here in Wisconsin!
