The first thing that caught my eye was how densely clustered and rigid the needles appear compared to mine. I can't read the second S word on the tag Lynn. Can you tell what it says? I'm wondering if this might be a variety.
It is Sciadopitys verticillata 'Sternschnuppe'. Should it go into a different entry?
This one was at the Salem Hardy Plant Sale last week. It's in a nursery pot and well cared for. I wonder if age and care would make a difference?

Of the sites I've found my favorite was www.oregonsmalltrees.com. I read this as Oregons mall trees and was thinking what a strange topic for a web site. Will keep looking.

It's crazy. Umbrella pines are so fantastic and this one has such great foliage. Is the Salem Hardy Plant Sale some kind of annual event for local nurseries? They sure had some fantastic conifers.
We even had one from out of state, WA.
It's put on my the Salem Hardy Plant Society. They do a lot of great work.
I wish I taken more photos of conifers. There were many different unusual and hard to find ones.
The nursery that had quite a collection, which was a small representation of what he has at the nursery, is French Prairie Perennials, Dundee, OR rare and unusual conifers

Nice. Must be a lot of fun.
Funny, I went to the French Prairie site. One of their featured plants is Abelia 'Kaleidoscope'. Looked it up and there's your pic.
