Oh gosh -- I added some Keppel Irises this year, but didn't keep track of them. (I know, I know -- I need to get that spreadsheet done). Oh -- Teenybopper -- isn't that a Keppel?

I also added Sea Power and LaScala. Tried to get Russian Violet, but wasn't quick enough on the PNW sale. Sad

When I have time, I'll go over my packing lists and see if there are anymore. Tom -- did you send me any Keppel's in your trade box?

Mary Ann, I sent you Keppel's Brazilian Art, and Brilliant Idea in that bunch.

Betty, I have an idea that Volcanic Glow is maybe prettier then it's picture, but I wasn't too taken by the pics. I might wish later that I had gotten it.

Paul, Way to go! Can't wait for those pictures next spring.

Paul, big CONGRATS on your Silver Medal! Isn't that one awarded to you personally rather than winning it for showing a particular variety?

And Tom, I sure hope VOLCANIC GLOW does well for my sister because it was the smallest rhizome ever sent to me by Keith Keppel. It is growing OK in a pot for now, but it might be a little more sensitive than I'd like. My sister's climate is not as hot as ours by about 5 degrees in the summer, though, so hopefully it won't be as stressed.

Silver Medal is for sweepstakes....the most blue ribbons, My rhizome of Volcanic Glow was on the small side..smaller than the other TBs in the order. It is growing well.

I've never shown iris, or even gone to an iris show for that matter. I guess I should do that so I can get to know a few more local iris people and see how they work. Somehow, I thought you would have to show your own seedlings, not someone elses.

The vast majority of specimens at our shows are named varieties but there is a section for seedlings. They do not compete with the named varieties . Sometimes I see mention in a description of an intro that it was selected best seedling as a certain show. I look forward to our show each year. I get to associated with other iris lovers and see what they are growing. We often swap for what we see that we like, I got Private Eye, Rogue Trader, and Unconditional Love as trades from what I saw at the show this year. I also see things to order next year [AS IF i REALLY NEED THAT].

Tom I ordered Friendly Advice and Hearty Burgundy from him they were not on my original list but after seeing them up close I really liked them both. They are growing well here,I also bought a couple intermediates Safari Sunrise and Spectator thought I would try a couple small ones and see how they do through the winter. Volcanic Glow is a beautiful flower and very unique I did not see anything else like it anywhere, but the plants were on the small side which made me decide to wait on it.
