Looking for Magic: Black Pepper

Aunt Bett always said, "Look for the magic that hides in plants, look real close and you'll find it." We get so used to seeing condiments at every meal, sometimes we don't even notice them and we certainly never think of the plants that are their source. Most of them provide nutrition our bodies need, whether we realize it or not. So is black pepper magic? Surely not. Oh, but let's take a closer look.

Will you be doing an article on Cayenne too, Sharon? The cold, flu, and sore throat remedy in our home when I was growing up included lots of Cayenne pepper: Fill a glass with vodka, pour Cayenne on the top in a thick layer, drink it down, and go to sleep under every blanket in the house. It worked like a charm.

It's in the works, Zuzu.
Sweated it out, didn't we?

We didn't have vodka in the hills of KY, but a little bit of moonshine worked like a charm. A spoonful actually, it was powerful stuff!

I've used Cayenne medicinally, but never nutritionally. I look forward to your article!
