Size of Plant: Plants are well-rooted and growing in 3" and 4" landscape containers. All are from rooted divisions. Many are blooming in the containers now. Only natural additives have been used in the growing process and a holistic organic methodology has been utilized at each step of the process.

Shipping
As much soil as possible will be removed and top-growth retained when possible for shipping. Roots will be wrapped in dampened materials and encased in plastic. The plants will be individually wrapped and labeled with common and botanical names. Patented plants will be identified with Patent number and/or label. It is clearly forbidden to propagate Patented Plants without authorization.
Plants will be shipped directly from the grower using USPS Priority service and Delivery Confirmation. The Delivery Confirmation number will be shared with the buyer to assist in tracking the plant's arrival.

Coneflowers have become the brightest color in the garden over the past decade due to extensive hybridization that began in the late 1990s. Today more than 80 vibrantly colored and uniquely shaped coneflowers are under patent or have patents pending. The colors have been expanded across each span of the rainbow, including green...The dilemma for the home gardener is that we want them all!
All of the selected species are fragrant additions to the outside garden and most are excellent additions to the indoor bouquet. Most average 18 to 24" at mature height with Ruby Giant being the tallest at 48". All of the plants are...

Hi Kim,
I've done a coop or two with you before and echies are my favorite. If you could find another echie lover....maybe three of us could split some trays. For example....Some places will 1/2 a tray of 36....two varieties of 18. 18 divided three ways is 6 plants each. Interested?

Is this going to happen soon? I might be able to find several people who are interested.

Thank you for the suggestion, Suzanne. As I began building Co-ops, I did quite a bit of research on the feasibility of purchasing split trays from Wholesale Dealers. I found that most of them require a minimum purchase of several hundred to a thousand dollars. Shipping whole trays across the country routinely placed the cost of participation out of the question for the average residential gardener. Having participated in multiple Co-ops that used this process, I also found the plants to be small, ill-rooted and too often did not thrive .

For all of my Co-ops, I hire growers directly . The roots are grown out many months before being shipped. When a payment is made, the growers select and ship the plants that are ready to be planted...not just shipping out trays of mass produced plants. The Co-op strives for quality over quantity. The growers have authorization to sell patented plants and often receive their growing material directly from the developer, not clearing houses. I believe this eliminates a number of mark-ups in the process and offers a stronger, organically grown plant for our gardens. As to the non-patented plants, the grower raises the plants from seed or cuttings and sells directly to The Co-ops at wholesale costs. Additionally, the grower drop ships directly to the Co-op Participants to provide additional savings. I have been using this process for multiple growing seasons supporting more than a hundred participants. This collaboration has been able to offer strong and hardy plants that are often difficult to find in the ever-changing retail plant market.

The Coneflower Co-op will begin shipping again in February or as soon as the plants are showing more leaf. The plants are not grown in a hothouse, but vernally with more than 50 hours of below 50 degree weather. This affords a chance for the roots to continue to grow during the cooler weather.
