Does anyone else besides me nickname their NOIDS? I do. I find that over time, for one reason or another, something description along the way sticks and a nickname is born. It happens here!

I do ~ if you like it enough to keep it, you gotta call it something!

Hilarious! I even gave Moby one I nicknamed once. Lost tag or wrong tag, she still has it (don't you?) Yep, you gotta call it something.

Just out of college, I named my sister's car once. She and a friend took a trip to Mackinaw (sp?) Island because it was the setting for a favorite movie - "Somewhere in Time".

I put a sign on her little red Toyota Tercel's grill that said "The Snazz Car". One went inside the left door: The Snazz Door. Open the passenger door and it's "The Other Snazz Door". Then there was the flip down Snazz Visor (and "The Other Snazz Visor"), the Snazz Compartment [glove compartment] and when they got gas... you guessed it: The Snazz Gas Door. When they reached their destination and opened the boot to retrieved their luggage, a sign dropped down that said: Snazz Trunk.

When they returned, they presented my with a T-shirt, hand painted with their car on it and the moniker. nodding

Naming can be great fun!

That movie is one of my wife's favorites. She's always wanting to go up there.

No Nicknames for lilies here.I need some sort of characteristic so I can remember where its planted and what color.
Most of my NOID's are Buggys variety pak I bought 4 years ago.

Oh heck, I even invent new garden terms, Jo Ann. I once lowered my pH down to 6.5 with good intentions because that's where it should be for most lilies. But in doing so, it made too much nutrition available and I ended up with some burned lilies. I got caught in a trick of soil chemistry-- so I called it 'accidental overculture'. It's become a standard term around here now when things don't go right!

I just LOVE that term. I dont know jack about chemistry ,If a plant doesnt grow well I just toss it. On the otherhand some of my lilies are shrinking aka smaller stems . I use a bulb fert twice a year. Voles play a part in the equation too.

Many of my garden terms cant be put on the web.

One of my unidentified species lilies I nicknamed Species Ugly. You have to be able to differentiate it somehow in your photos...

If I did not hybridize lilies, I would have thrown it away years ago. But I'm determined to find its redeeming quality, or qualities by crossing it with other not ugly lilies.
