I got an early birfday gift to myself as I noted in my other thread, but I just had to share this picture I managed to take.

Is that dew or rain on the petals? That camera really brings out the color, doesn't it? I would be tempted to take some of your new rose photos to a shop that can print onto canvas.

Cindi - *Blush* *Blush* *Blush* *Blush* *Blush* They're not that good.. honestly. Take Sue's pix... her's are way better. And that was an incredibly heavy dew day... I got soaked walking around. It was just this side of frost .. I could see my breath that morning. I'll be posting the last pix I think of the season soon.

We have one or two photos from our yard that we dearly love--taken with a cheap point and shoot with a smudged lens, but the photos mean a lot. The scene is as pretty as one in a commercial painting. I want to either recreate the photo or just have it printed the way it is so we can hang it up and know it is ours, through and through,.
Roses with frost on them make glorious photos--and think of all the photo effects you can use! With all your bold wall colors, I think you could do some super cool things with purple rose photos, or gold..

Beautiful Toni!

I took a page out of your book. Got myself 4 for a 'late' birthday present at ARE last weekend - Lafter, DA Heritage, La Reine Victoria, and Westerland.

I'm hoping La Reine gets comfy quickly and gives me a rebloom. If not, I'll just wait until spring, drooling with anticipation! Lovey dubby

Wow, Toni. Thank you for getting a real camera. It makes a big difference!

I suddenly realized what a rare treat your photos of RedGold are, Toni, when I was at HMF today looking at the entry for that rose and read comments of rose gardeners from Chico, California who were complaining about it. According to their account, the first time the summer temperature zips above 90F their RedGold roses are completely defoliated by blackspot. This despite the fact that the relative humidity is a mere seven percent! I guess all those things that make rose cultivation difficult in the mountains: low moisture content of air and land, and lots of coolish weather combine to make RedGold possible to grow where you live and not too many other places.
When you dance with nature, try not to step on her toes.
