Over watering definitely is not the problem right now. But the night temps have started to go down and our lowest this past week was 61. They will lose all their leaves in the winter? Even if I bring them in the house?

Mine didn't back when they were seedlings and I was into bringing them inside, but I'm in a situation where I was able to take them out again after the sun came up and it warmed up. Perhaps other adenium lovers up north would have better advise.

Molly, where the heck is Florida Tundra???

If it's Minnesota, yes, your plants will go leafless for a few months unless they are in a heated room with grow lights. Plus, if the plants are grafted, and on an arabicum rootstock, that will make them go dormant.

I was wondering about Florida Tundra also! I think I'll google it.

Sorry folks, I made the Tundra up. I think I did that because that year our lowest temp here was 4 degrees. That was the coldest it's been since I moved up here from Lauderdale. I am about 25 miles SW of Gainesville. Last winter wasn't so bad, I only had to turn the heater on in the the GH once, and I only do that when the temps threaten lower than 30.

These Desert Roses are grown from seed, so no grafts here.

4 degrees!!! That IS tundra! Wow, I agree with Jim, 75 is ccccold.

I knew I couldn't live as far north as FLL when the very first time I was there it went to 28 that night. Back in the 70's. Some Canadians I met there were in their coats, groaning that they'd driven something like 45 hours straight through to find a warm beach.

Then I went to the Keys, and it was 68 and drizzling rain, Brrrrrrr! I was camping, so it was miserable.

Are you anywhere near the maniac daylilly breeder farms? They're "making" some wild flowers now-a-days.

There's a daylily breeder farm out on 241 near Jonesville, but I haven't actually been there, just driven by. I have enough daylilies anyway.

Yes, it can get cold here in the winter, but the best thing about that is, when it's cold, it ain't gonna rain, and the humidity in winter doesn't exist. When gardening/working outside in the winter, you layer up, then just shed the layers as the day warms up. The skys are always clear and at night you can see a gazillion stars......remember, I am out in the country....no lights except from the moon and stars.

I think maybe I should put my little seedlings in bigger pots soon. What do you think? These are ones that I managed to grow from seeds Mike sent me. I'm so thrilled with them as generally I don't do well with seeds.

In the pic, they are sitting in the bathroom so they don't get rained on, too much rain last week. They are back outside now, under a slight overhand on the roof so they get morning sun but not the heat of the afternoon.

I think they are still good in those pots for a little while. I'd repot them in spring.

An update on my little Adeniums...

My propagator is almost empty, just a few slow ones left in there but they will be out soon.
Almost ready to move some of the others into 3" pots too.
Smiling

This one looks quite interesting - all the others have leaves in pairs...

Good "Triple"! Usually they have the triple cotyledon, then normal pairs of leaves. Hmmm... We'll all keep an eye on this one with you!

Haha, these forums are a blast. Once I was on an orchid forum, and a lady posted a photo of her Vanda that was getting a bump on the stem. She posted several photos as the bump got bigger and bigger and everyone was talking about it, trying to guess if it was a bud stem. Turned out it was a root, and we all laughed, and the lady was disgusted. Hilarious!

OK, the 'cotyledon' is the first thingies that aren't leaves, like if you plant lima beans, the first thingies that are on the top of the stem, then you get 'true' leaves.

Your's is triple all the way, rather than having the first 'imposter' leaves triple, and then the true leaves next up being just doubles, two across from each other, in pairs...

Got that?.

Well...my propagator is now empty !

Everything is out and (hopefully) growing nicely. A couple seem a bit small, but time will tell for those.

Cheryl, my oldest are the Somalense, they are just over 7 weeks old now, this is one of them -

My youngest are 2 weeks old, they are Obesums.

These ones (both Obesums) are kinda in the middle, age-wise...

A quick update...

Thumb of 2013-02-04/dragonlady/a3a6f0

One of my Somalense, getting bigger !
This one has started to grow some little "spikes" just above the leaves.
Photo isn't great, but maybe someone has an idea what these will turn into ? Leaves, flowers, branches, aliens...?
They have grown a little more since I took the photo.
