It happens, much as it hurts. She is one of the oldest cows in the barn right now, so you begin to expect things like this.

We went from partly sunny to heavy overcast and dropped 9 degrees in a very short time. The wind veered from SSE to NNW, never a good sign in October. Stan has been putting machinery away since before lunch and I think he's going to have it done soon, doors on sheds are being closed.

We went from 90 and sunny yesterday to 54 today with a NNW wind and overcast. For us the cold weather will be temporary but rather surprising.

If you left it out last night, it is DEAD for sure. Everything was white when I got up. Sun is out now and the frost is pretty well melted off everything.

We're fine. It sounded like a winter storm last night, but we only lost power for maybe a minute. Down in Clymer, the electric poles that ran along the road outside the John Deere dealer all snapped off, so they were down. I don't think any of the schools in the county were open, but there is a lot less damage than there could have been. Right now, it's calm and grey and drizzly.

Yes, Kathleen, it could have been MUCH worse. Glad to hear it was just a couple of minor inconvieniences.

Have to work at the sale barn today. Friday is feeder cattle sale and will have to go for that. Neighbor Norma is done with the corn harvest, so I think she will be able to go next week unless her SU decides they are going to make corn fodder bales. Once we can start alternating it will be a little easier. But, it's been good for me so I can get familiar with it all and comfortable with it.

I'm glad the storm did not cause as wide-spread devastation as predicted. It was bad enough as it was!

145 calves today, so it wasn't too bad. I was told there will be at least 700 head for the feeder cattle sale on Friday. I hope they are mostly Wisconsin animals that stay in the state. No tags, no papers..........LOL Like THAT will happen. Green Grin!

Guess I will go hammer a bit on my hammer dulcimer.

Stan was going to buy me a hammer dulcimer once a long time ago, but I got the small plucked model. Haven't played it in years, but my brother and I used to sing and strum some.

More rain here. They shut our electric down around 8 last night until 11. I went to bed, but Stan had to stay up (sleeping in the chair) until it came down so he could restart the water pump.

Oh, I have that one too, Kathleen, but since I want to play something Christmas eve at church, I am working on that one.
