I found one of these growing up in Colorado high country and was so taken with it. I think it was the same plant.

The pictures I posted are in the garden of a friend who grows a lot of "natives". Yours looks the same to me. Kent Pteiffer who is often here on ATP gave me the original ID and he seems to know these plants well.
