These roses are blooming today. They are doing much better this year than last. I was going to put them in the yard but they seem to like the pots so I am going to leave them another year. They will be too big for the pots by January so I will plant them then. right.Thumb of 2011-04-06/shirley/85415b

Wow, fabulous, Shirley. I have nothing blooming but the three Lady Banks roses. Last year I had lots of blooms in March, but this year the relentless March rain demolished almost all of the buds.

I have a single flower on 1 vinca minor "Illuminations" (http://www.perennials.com/seep...) blooming. Does that count?

Many of my roses are in the midst of their first spring flush of blooms. They probably look better right now than they will all summer.

Hey everyone. I am still looking for my tags. The red one is Dolly Parton . The red one with yellow is Tropicanna. The nicely shaped pink is Queen Elizabeth and some old vintage shrub roses. They are simply listed as shrub rose. I have a vintage shrub rose that has not peaked yet. And of course there is the BR Cant. Mom had this rose under a pecan tree in our back yard. She and Dad made cuttings and gave it to friends all over. I found one in a near by town and bought it about seven years ago. Made babies from it and have them in several places in the yard. Lost some to Katrina. I am ashamed to say I do not take care of it. It just comes and goes as it pleases. Right now it is loaded with blooms are buds. I would definitely think it is a good rose to have.Thumb of 2011-04-08/shirley/67b7c9 this one is not in the collage.

Arghhh. No blooms yet here, of course. However, the forsythia are starting to set buds, so I better get pruning, and starting my spraying program, and weeding - being careful not to mistake any of my perennials for weeds. At least it is rain and not ice. During the hottest days of summer, I will be glad that I don't live in the south - but I envy your early spring blooms.

I hurt my back and shoulder. The combination of pain and pain meds has been slowing me down considerably.

Winston the pug likes being outside in spring weather. I had to bundle him in a sweater and practically drag him outside during the coldest days of winter. I was wondering if I would be gardening sans companion this year. He doesn't hunt rodents like my late Westie, Tiffany, but he likes being outside in nice weather. As I was trying to rake the hosta bed, he made sure to mark the areas I was clearing. I wonder if dog piddles deter slugs.

Hyacinths are long gone. Snow and freezing weather have put an end to the early half of daffodil season here, but I see tulips just starting to open. It will be at least six weeks and maybe ten before spring rose season gets here.
