Maryott's sent me a gift plant of DILEMMA this summer, and today it is blooming. I think it is absolutely exquisite, but it does not match any other picture or description of it that I have found. So I'm wondering if perhaps it is something else. I tried sending Bill a picture with a message once before but was notified that it was rejected so I'm thinking he has spam control on his system. So I thought i'd try here before writing him to ask how I can get a picture through to him to check.

Does this look like anyone else's DILEMMA?

Here is Bill Maryott's description of DILEMMA:

(Maryott 2006) 32 inches tall, EMLRe, 5.5 inch flowers, Ev, Tet, 25 buds per scape. Impressive large flowers with beautiful form and fast increase. Interesting yellow with a hint of green in the center and a hint of rose on the outside. Very heavily ruffled. Fertile both ways. This cultivar may have moderate rust susceptibility if you have rust in your garden. It is reported to grow and perform well in the very coldest areas of Zone 2 in Northern Minnesota. Sdlg. C340A. Parentage: LARRY GRACE X DARLA ANITA.

And here is the link to the AHS Registration info:

And here is the link to our database entry for DILEMMA:

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Dilemma')

I see no hint of an eye listed anywhere in the descriptions or in our database picture, or in the picture on Maryott's website. So I'm really wondering if the plant I have is DILEMMA. I wouldn't trade it for the world, but I really really want the correct name for it. If anyone else has seen the faint pink eye mark on DILEMMA then I'll know I've got the correct name.

Could it be Color Fusion?

You could send Bill a link to this thread. I don't believe you have to be a member here to see posts.

You are correct that it does not look like the photo on his site: https://daylilygarden.net/cgi-...

The one listed in Plant Files here: here:

I would check the address you have to make sure it is correct ([email protected]) . If it is, I would still try sending it again just in case it bounced for a different reason.

You know, I think OldGardener is correct -- I also got COLOR FUSION as a gift plant from him, and I'll bet I switched the labels when I was potting them up.

THANK YOU!!! Hurray!

Isn't it? I just love it! Of course, in my climate I don't get nearly the wonderful edges that others do -- but I'm very happy with it!

It's gorgeous! I know what you mean about the climate - I am about an hour and a half south of Bakersfield and I would be absolutely thrilled if I got a bloom like that. It truly is exquisite!

It's very beautiful Betty, glad your mystery was solved. Hurray! Color Fusion is stunning, hope I can get one. Green Grin!
