We came from here
The thread "Show Us Your Garden 27, September 2012" in Orchids forum

Since I had lately posted my "Pennsy-stuff" into the Garden threads, I thought I keep on doing so, although it is a "natural" garden of sorts.
We spend some time at our place this weekend, Friday was absolutely gorgeous weather wise and we had a nice Picnic by the pond.
We also did quite some walking around, there were a lot of pretty mushrooms to be found. My favorites are the pretty logs overgrown with Mosses, Mushrooms and Lichen. Fall colors are in full peak in Lackawanna county, PA.

Wow! What a great variety! I miss the woods, but not the skeeters and deerflies that hang out in them.

Kathy, I would certainly think, your area is similarly colored right now. Wait for the sun to come out again.... Smiling

Wonderful pictures, Ursula. It reminds me of my youth.

I thought I should post a picture of the goldenrain tree now that the yellow flowers have turned into golden brown seed pods.

Here is a last look at this year's Amorphophallas. The little trees are beginning to droop and will be gone in another month.

My Lipidozamia peroffskyana cycad is doing well, putting on two new rings of fronds this year. It is soft and graceful with no thorns at all.

The cherries jubilee allamanda has these beautiful flowers but the plant keeps sending up new shoots and spreading everywhere. It took two years of babying it through the winters and now it is a beast.

Gorgeous, Jim. Love that Datura flower!

Don't you get a lot of calls to the help desk about the Golden Rain tree "what is that big tree with the coppery pink flowers?" I was at the phone this afternoon and had that question twice in 3 hours! The second lady also said "I was sure that tree had yellow flowers last year!". I think they've bloomed a bit earlier this year, so maybe some snowbirds weren't here for the yellow flowering part a week or two ago.

I have a couple of great banana recipes, let me know and I'll tree-mail them.

Elaine and Jim, your pictures are wonderful, especially now as things are done blooming here. My Datura survived the frost but doesn't produce any more trumpets this season. The Amorphophallus "tree" is amazing!! Lovey dubby

Nice show, Elaine. We grow many of the same plants. Remember we have to keep the tundra folks supplied with flowers during the dark days of winter. They will take over in May. That is what makes this thread so special.

We have dropped down into the mid-80s for highs and the humidity is down. I'm ready for a break from the heat.

Here is NE Mississippi, fall has come early. We had highs only in the low to mid 70's a couple of weeks ago, then a week of mid 80's, and now are back into the mid 70's. A cold front came through last night, with tornados across the south. We have clear skies this morning and our humidity has dropped. Lows of mid 40's are predicted for the next several mornings and the humidity will remain low. It looks like I will have to begin moving my tropicals into the two greenhouses and enclosed porch before the end of the month. Generally I don't have to begin that chore until mid-November. Ken

I would like to sneak into this thread a panorama of the lake at Ramapo mountains ca. 15 min. by car North of us. Not exactly my garden, but hopefully drool worthy....I took a bunch of pictures today and stitched some together for this panorama shot. The Ramapo mountains are pretty much at peak color this week.

Seems that all the south is in yoyo mode this fall! Yesterday it was 91 with 17% humidity. Today it was 83 with 50%, but even stranger was that it was 73 on my porch at 5:45 this morning! I can't recall ever having temps that high at night/morning.
