It is Indian summer here in seattle no rain in months and temps in the 70's at noon
the succulents have grown great since spring and i have my unprotected lava bed planted
If anyone wants cuttings i would be happy to send them some for the cost of shipping.
Most of my cactus i or my dad collected from the west from squim wa to mt pleasant ut. so i dont exactly know what i have except there are 16 geographically distinct opuntia in my beds.

How cold hardy are the Opuntias?

there is for sure fragilis, ficus indica, polyacantha, and tomentosa the rest are from places like mattawa ( zone 6b ) and mitchell ( zone 5b ) and other random places in between the rockys and cascades where it generally can get very cold with irregular snow cover. stuff like tomentosa will rot if not protected from winter drizzle. this is only there 2nd full summer in the ground at this house though so....

oh yha and all the ones in beds touching the house get winter heat. That is my brick sunroom. i Heat it with a wood stove so it leaks heat into the beds also the beds themselfs are full of gravel rubble rock and brick so they absorb heat during day. So yha i might be cheating with those and the giant eaves
