By Sharon | Growing up I ate more when grazing in the gardens than when sitting at the dinner table. Even now I wander around tasting my tomatoes, a nibble here, a nibble there, a leaf of spearmint, a daylily bud or two, a pinch of rosemary, basil . . . Yes. I do. I nibble my daylilies. |

I'm so glad my house is surrounded by other houses, though not very close. The deer don't venture this far 'inland'. I have a friend who 'fenced' her garden with ditchlilies on the side nearest the forest. Her theory was that the critters ate the ditchlilies when they got to the edge and stopped when their tummies were full. They didn't venture further into her garden.
Didn't hurt the ditchlilies either, they just kept right on growing.
