I'm really enjoying watching this rose. The blooms are so beautiful. I like the red/purple tones. They smell awesome too and I haven't noticed any blackspot. It also seems to love being smothered by Penstemon "Dark Towers!" This was an accident. I had no idea the colors would complement each other so nicely.

Here's a nice bud of Intrigue against some Penstemon "Dark Towers." The color is so rich of these blooms!

Here's one more photo. I think roses are going to become an addiction for me. LOL. I wish my yard was bigger!

Thanks. I'm just now starting to appreciate roses. I don't know why they suddenly grow for me. I tried for years to grow them. Maybe it's that bone meal I've put around them. LOL.

You've captured the color so beautifully in that second photo. I've almost given up on trying to get a good photo of this rose's unique coloring. I really love it, and it's right up in my top five as far as the scent is concerned.

Thanks. I think it's because it was cloudy today. That's the only time I've gotten the color to come out right as well. I bet this rose would look good with Tradescant. I have that one in the back yard. I may have to move it in the fall.

Intrigue is one of the best of the deep velvety roses. Make sure that you save a bloom & dry it (try putting on your dashboard in the windshield of your car on a hot sunny day.. Takes like three days to dry out 100% or, if that won't work, put it behind your computer monitor/TV. That does almost as fast of a job.). A dried Intrigue will smell wonderfully for a long time, so you can make potpourri sachets out of it, too. Friend of mine who makes candles used some dried Intrigue buds in her candles for a beautiful effect.

Toni - if it's any indication of our current weather, I'll go the windshield route. Forecasting 96 today. UGH!!!

My potted 'Intrigue'??? purchased from Lowe's this spring. Begins as a deep rose/purple but fades in sunlight. Plus my camera has a tendency to flare all reds so the pic is not really accurate.Thumb of 2011-05-15/Oldgardenrose/df15fb
