It is Christmas in October!!! I told myself no more ordering new peonies last year, but then I found out about Bannister Gardens half-off sale in August. I couldn't resist putting in an order for 6 more - 4 herbaceous ones, one ITOH, and a double fernleaf. They ran out of the double fernleaf, but I received the other 5 a few days ago, They all have a goodly number of eyes, and the roots were very healthy. New roots are already sprouting so I plan on getting them into the ground in the next few days. Here is Pink Hawaiian Coral with lots of eyes and a great price. That one was planted today.

And here are the other 4 - Burma midnight, Raspberry charm, Cheddar Gold, and an ITOH - Garden Treasure (at half off, it was an affordable $45) Hurray!

I am disappointed that I did not get any fernleaf peony as that is the only type that I do not have.

What good healthy roots!
You will need to post pictures when they flower!
That sounds like a good assortment---what colours are the flowers?
I think Pink Hawaiin is a coral pink? I am not familiar with the others.

Lucky you to get Garden Treasure. I wanted to add a yellow but the ones I wanted - Garden Treasure and Prairie Charm - are out of my price range for now.

Caroline - yes Pink Hawaiian coral is a coral pink/salmonish color. Burma midnight is a dark red, cheddar gold is white with yellow center, and raspberry charm is a bright red. I have a lot of pinks, so wanted to increase the reds and whites in my yard.

Julia - I wasn't willing to pay $100 for the yellow ITOHs either, but $45 was just at the right price to snare me in Hilarious!

That is my problem: too many pinks, and the yellows are very expensive!

You picked some really nice ones Dianne. Pink Hawaiian Coral is one of my favorites. One of the first ones I remember just being amazed at the beauty when I saw it. And there is something really striking about a pretty pink peony in bloom. Congrats on your new finds.

In addition to the species double fern leaf, I also received 'Gay Paree' which is a new type for me. Slowly building a base group of named peonies in addition to several "guesses" cultivars.

Jerry - lucky you! You must have ordered early enough to get the species double fern leaf. They ran out and could not fill my order.

I read this thread about a week ago and off I went to visit Bannister Gardens (http://www.peonies.net/peony_c...). I placed my order and received my healthy peony rhizomes yesterday. I ordered Red Charm, Burma Midnight, Mrs. FDR, Henry Bockstoce, Topeka Garnet, Requiem and Ann Berry Cousins.

Thanks Dianne. Thumbs up

Actually, I had placed my intent to order the FL last year after I missed the early boat. I think all their species peonies were sold out very early. They are the place to go to for many of the hard to find peonies.

You're welcome, Lily. Deals like that is always good.

Jerry - I'll have to remember that next year and order early.

I placed an order at Bannister's two weeks ago. They have some cultivars that are on sale, in case some members are interested to know. Lovey dubby Green Grin!
