Fred, thanks for the comment about a website. I have wondered about that.
I like the 'if you build it, they will come'. Smiling
This thread has been exceptionally informative. Thanks to all.

Fred's site is great!

My free one has a counter to show you how many visitors you have. I was surprised to see I have multiple visitors every single day.

A counter is nice too, and being free is also nice. I haven't done a web page in ages.
Don't want to try one in HTML again. It has been a long time, and I've forgotten the codes, but guess these sites make it
easier than that which is also great. At any rate, I have these in my favorites, and will get more
acquainted with them during the winter when I have lots of time.

Plus, I really like the idea of a website.

The web site I use is Simple Site and the name says it all, if it were not SIMPLE I could not do it. None of those HTML things, designed for people like me. All you have to do is sell one or two daylilies and its paid for another year. Mine also has a counter.

So glad you added that Fred. I checked it out and like what I see.
I'm not ready to put up a site just yet. I'm still in planning mode.

I don't see how they accept payment as in check, money order, or whatever.
Do you use a third party to upload photos, or can one upload directly from
your computer to SimpleSite?

Shirley I use the same site for our club website. You have to use a credit card (maybe paypal) to pay. That's so it can be automatically renewed or whatever without a hassle of waiting on someones check. Plus they are are in Denmark so I'm sure the easiest way for them is strictly credit cards.

You upload the photos directly from your computer to Simplesite.

Fred or Michele, is that $89 for a month or a year on Simple Site.
Haven't used a credit card for a few years, didn't have a need for one, but recently got one, so I'm
moving right along in setting up things for near future use.

I really like Simple Site. I'm impressed with the design you guys have
put together, and of course simple to use is a biggie factor too.

I don't have plants lined out yet, or decided which ones to divide either.
It's going to be a very busy spring next year.

Just noticed the Xmas candle and snow added to yours Fred. Looks great too.
Very festive and inviting.

Oops, I found it on the Simple Site page. It says $20 a quarter. That's a fair price.

If you make one payment it will save you some money. We get the website and the domain name for the $89.

Without a domain name and use the one they give you it's

$20 for 3 months = $80
or
$69 for 1 year

Thanks Fred and Michele for the info. I've read what I think is all of
the pages, played a bit with creating a web page, and have one
more question.

If I read correctly, Simple Site says if in the first two days, one decides to
get a domain name, it is $1. Also that one has to search the name to see if
it is not already in use, and I assume that is a different party with which to
pay the $1. Since you have already done this, is this how it works?

It all gets handled through the simplesites website. Just click the links and it will take you through the process of seeing if the name is available or not. It's pretty simple to do and you pay on the website as well.
