Anyone familiar with plants in the genus Hoya? Awhile back I uploaded photo's to this entry for Hoya DS-70: Wax Plant (Hoya 'DS-70')

But, when I do a Plant Database search for Hoya DS-70, this one comes up: I don't believe DS-70 is a cultivar of bilobata. The two photo's by jojoe appear to me to be Hoya DS-70 but when I tried to move them I couldn't get to the "other" entry for Hoya DS-70. The only way I could access the other entry was by searching through my photo images at my profile page.

I might be wrong but I've always thought Hoya bilobata and Hoya DS-70 were two different plants. I've had separate plants with those two names and the leaf size and shape, and flower color was different for the two ... but we all know how many times nursery tags/labels are stuck on the wrong plant. Smiling

Anyone have suggestions as to what to do with these two separate entries?

I sent a tree-mail to AlohaHoya to see if she can be of help in deciphering these two entries. Smiling Carol has always been so helpful to me and always willing to share her knowledge about Hoyas ... hopefully she can help figure this one out. Green Grin!

Hi, Lin. Hoya bilobata is not an accepted name. Carol probably can shed some light on what your H. bilobata actually is. For now, I'll merge the two entries, and you can move your "H. bilobata photos" later if you find a better ID.

Ok, what am I doing wrong? I click on Plant Database, type in Hoya DS-70 and it brings up the entire listing of Hoya's. Why didn't it just go to the entry for that particular Hoya? I had to scroll through to find it on Page 7.

It's because of the hyphen, which negates everything following it, so you're getting a list of every hoya with "D" and "S" in its name, I suspect. It's easier to go to the Hoya section of the database and look for the plant on the "D" page.

When I moved the photos, I used the plant ID# (131211) instead of typing in the name. Now that I've given you the plant ID#, you can just type 131211 into search and it will take you straight to Hoya 'DS-70.'

Aha ... I didn't realize that. I wonder if the hyphen needs to be there or if it could be removed and just listed as Hoya DS70? I doubt that I will remember the plant ID number but at least I know I can search through the image list at my profile page to get back there if need be. Smiling

Better late than never!!!

They are different plants...so far. If DNA were done they may be found to be related...or clones of eachother...but not yet.

So sorry to be late for the party...... I tip my hat to you.
