Great job, fixpix. What is the larger vining succulent in the front in the next to bottom picture?

Nice looking Pithaya!

Beautiful! I have something similar that is a cutting someone gave me ... I've been trying to ID it so must get a picture. I think it may be the same as yours though.

Well, if my pic is not relevant, google with the name and you will be able to tell if it resembles or not Smiling

Now that you've given me a name, I finally got around to looking it up in the ATP plant database. Happily, there is a photo there by the person who sent me the cutting. So I think that solves it ... most definitely it is Ceropegia sandersonii. Green Grin!

Thanks again for the name. I tip my hat to you.

Definitely some of the neatest blooms belong to the succulents.

Well, of course mine hasn't bloomed but I do enjoy the Ceropegias. C. woodii is the large one I had in CA so I am looking forward to this one (green being my favorite color). Smiling

Good morning, I was wondering if the giant stapelia is difficult to start for others.? I have a big old pot that is getting to long and some others had asked about a start. Any certain thing I should do? Thanks

Hi Teresa -- My big pot of it was easy to start from a few little pieces a couple of years ago. This year when I moved it outdoors, it grew like crazy ... and bloomed. Just sticking them in some soil was all it took and they do like light. Don't overwater would be my best advice.

OK, thanks. We have gotten down to 28 degrees so I brought mine in a few days ago. It has that hanging basket look. I may try giving a few pieces a trim. Rolling my eyes. We are warming back up slowly but it is November so I am looking for more chilly days.

Teresa, same general weather here. We are fairly close in proximity but it has been a little colder up there in KY, I think. It was below freezing here night before last but warmer (37) last night. With the hard freeze, it is now the official end of the growing season. The EE leaves have drooped to the ground and the banana leaves are looking sad today. But they'll be back. Green Grin!

Some of the succulents I brought indoors are starting to bloom now being that it's their bloom season in the Southern Hemisphere. And, of course, the Amaryllis will be blooming. Always look forward to that. nodding

Yes, I have been trying to cut back on what I winter inside and the amaryllis is one that I really miss. I have had a nice pink, Apple ? and the Red Lion is awesome. I now only grow the hardy St Joe near my backdoor.

Teresa,
I am not sure this is very important to follow, but I've known, with succulent cuttings, you should leave the cuts dry and heal (like what happens when we cut our finger,...)
It's called "callous" (is it? )
Then they can be potted and they will root.
I often left cuttings on a dry newspaper or paper towel even for a few days.

I agree. It's good to let them callous for a few days. I think that's very important for some succulents. I've taken broken pieces of some things and put them right back in the pot to root with no problems. But that doesn't always work.

ok, well thanks fixpix, because I was going to plant it right away. Do you guys use just regular potting mix or something different?
