Chamblee has such a good selection. I did a search for floribundas and found Valentine. I've never grown it, but here's what they say about it:

"Rarely affected by heat, humidity, insects, or disease. Outstanding landscape plant. Good for hedges or borders. Blooms open red and fade to pink in the heat of summer."

That is a nice one!

Here's my progress so far. Where the thug (butterfly bush) is- that's the part I'll be finishing out. I still have to move out some lantana, but that will have to wait until spring. Also have pink verbena in there which I can't seem to make up my mind if I'm going to get rid of it or not. I usually lean toward get rid of it, then I change my mind again.

I've also been moving things around in my landscape making room for roses Green Grin! After 3 years, I've finally got a vision of my gardens! Thumb of 2012-10-26/Trish/cf0281

Oh, what a big pretty circle! The verbena and lantana would look nice between the roses, and they aren't likely to overwhelm the roses the way some perennials do. I've had to get rid of so many Salvias and Penstemons because they eventually obscure everything else in the bed.

The lantana keeps trying to eat the Nacogdoches. This one is only mildly wild- some varieties can get taller than me and 10 times as wide! I keep telling her to hang in there and I'll move the bully Rolling my eyes. The verbena doesn't compete, though.

Anywhere I've planted Lantana it has swallowed up all its companions.

Scary! I've only planted the cute little Lantana that drops dead as soon as it's hit by frost, but I do know even that type is highly invasive in some frost-free parts of Southern California.

Whatever you don't, DON'T PLANT BLUEBEARDS. Found that one out the hard way. Same with SilverMound. They'll take over EVERYTHING. How about some nice mums? Would those do OK in your area? I'm putting in daylilies & mums between my roses so that I have greenery all the time (well, not in the winter of course). Blue Butterflies Delphiniums are another one that I'm really loving, plus, of course, agastaches... Drooling Drooling Drooling

Caryopteris and Silver Mound Artemesia just barely hang on here. They are in lean soil without irrigation, though. The Silver King artemesia is a thug, though, no matter where it is planted. This year, the mums and asters are super lovely.
For red roses, what I have currently blooming that is especially nice are Valentine's Day, which may be considered a mini climber, not sure, and Dublin Bay which is such a beautiful pure red that I will always grow it. Both of those had no issues with our heat or drought. I bought the Dublin Bay from Chamblee. Dublin Bay looks its best with a deep purple clematis twining through. Trish, did you get a Seminole Wind from Chamblee? I discovered that it gets large in the sun, and blooms pretty much all season, but in the shade it blooms just a little bit less, but it stays very small--less than 2 feet tall and wide, compared to maybe 5x4 in the sun. Could get larger if I watered it, don't know...

Isn't Seminole Wind Chamblee's name for Rosarium Uetersen? It should be huge: as much as 12 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Maybe it's mislabeled, Cindi.

Our Rose Society has sold that one for several years, listing it under both names, and I don't think it ever grew more than 6' tall or wide for anyone in our climate. It's a real popular rose here. Our roses die back in the winter enough that very few grow into monsters. We have enough serious exhibition rose growers here that anything mislabeled gets corrected right away.
